Basically, they want you to take a picture with a booth babe, and if you win, you get "a dinner and "sinful night with two hot girls, a limo service, paparazzi and a chest full of booty.""
Didn't know EA was in the prostitution business...
Also, probably the most disrespectful to Dante's original work...
I don't know ,i think Dante was known to be "luxurious".
.
but yeah this whole thing seems a wee bit immoral.

That's pretty absurd.
This is sort of tangential to the original topic, but the fact that they have the gall to create a video game counterpart of the Divine Comedy is upsetting to me. In fact, I view it as a perversion to the Dante's Inferno name.
Also, the fact that they were able to trademark the Dante's Inferno name infuriates me to no end. Not only should you not be able to trademark something based on another, existing work with the same name, you doubly shouldn't be able to when there has already been another game with the same name released! (There was another Dante's Inferno released in '86 on the C64).
The only problem is that you can't do anything particularly sinful with the girls in question, which kind of makes this whole thing a farce in itself.
Also, if they have to bribe gamers with girls then that means that they have no respect for their customers or even the girls they are pimping.

Yeah, I usually defend EA, because they can be the punching bag on several points that aren't true at all, but this and C&C 4 just annoy me to no end.
What about C&C 4 annoys you? Was it the lack of camp? Because I was worried about that too, but the moment Kane dramatically pulled out that glowy thing I immediately thought "ah, there it is."
(the camp, not the glowy thing)
Thing is, the 'win a hot date with xxxxx' thing isn't new in promotion at all - but usually the xxxxx is someone relevant; a name you recognise. They're not just reduced to "a hot girl." As it stands It really is enormously insulting to everybody involved.

It might be the fact that C&C 4 requires an internet connection even when playing single-player for "progress" tracking...

Yep, that about sums it up.
So, what happens if the two hot girls turn out to be really large, feverish women?

Swine flu...
This promotion is demeaning to all involved. Glen Schofield's decision to leave Visceral is looking better and better.
Well, if nothing else, they succeed at drawing attention to themselves.
I am very angry about Dante's Inferno promotion campaign!

Even though Dante's Inferno takes place in Hell and this is just there way of pointing that out?

I teach. I'm surprised that they decided to make a videogame out of this, but I'm OK with it. They have Raffa doing a summary of the poem on the website. He's a noted Medievalist, so they're not completely making it up as they go along. DI is a God of War clone, and from the looks of it a decent one. God of War got lots of mythology wrong but it also got a lot of kids interested in mythology. As a teacher, I'll take that.
Regarding the night of sin, etc - it's EA, if you're surprised by shameless promotion on their part, shame on you.
