as for customization i think you can only choose your 3 skills at certain points and all attributes are automatic... other then that your stuck with the basic Male or Female of each class... your gear type and loadout give you a unique look just like D2 from what i understand
My opinion for character customization is kinda a waste of time after all do u Wana spend time looking at your character or play the game just saying

Starkrun: Ive been thinking about playing the DLC class with the new spells from the Auction House and maybe buying the Deckard Caine mini pet that shoots fireworks... Then i was thinking of crafting... wait thats gone... ok i'll use the cube to custom make.... wait thats gone too... OK never mind i'll get some awesome armor casting all sorts of spell.... wait only 3 skills at a time ever and armor is class specific... OK then im going to be the class that can PVP like crazy with MAX stamina... Wait theres no PVP and all skills are automatically raised...

well hell, im playing Torchlight 2 then :p
They removed crafting? About two weeks ago, it was still there at least.

As for class, it will be Wizard or Witch Doctor. Have not played with the latter yet, might do in a few days. I don't like melee characters so Barb and Monk are out of the question. I found the Demon Hunter to be fairly repetitive and unfulfilling, much more so than the Wizard.

Have yet to play with Witch Doctor, but considering how much I loved Druid and Necro in D2, I reckon it might just be the right class for me. I originally wanted to play Wizard for Teleport, but the mechanic has now changed so the original appeal is no longer there.

I am going to have to disagree. You're going to have to spend time looking at your character when you're playing, so why not customize them?

I might play demon hunter if I ever get Diablo 3, which is unlikely.

This is probably the worst informed post I have ever seen on this forum, and yes it' worth digging up this thread for.

The first sentence seems to be just mockery (there is no DLC class, no AH bought spells, and no Cain pet or fireworks), so I'll just skip over it.

- Crafting is very much present in the game. There is a Blacksmith NPC and a Jeweler NPC who are introduced through quests and join the player on his journeys, setting up camp in the various towns throughout the game. The player can train them through dropped recipe pages and tomes, provide them with salvaged materials to craft weapons and armor (Blacksmith) and combine/remove gems and put sockets in items (Jeweler). As the player provides them with resources and training they will level up and the appearances of their stalls will change with each level.

- Armor is not class specific, but each class have certain pieces of equipment that are unique to them, just like Sorceress Orbs, Barbarian Helms, Necromancer Shrunken Heads, etc. in Diablo 2.

- There are 6 slots for active skills and 3 for passive skills, which players can fill from a pool of over 40-50 skills per class. Each active skill has 5 variants in the form of runes, allowing players to customize skills to their preferred playstyle.

- PvP won't make it in for release, but will be patched in later (patched in, not released as DLC) in the form of PvP Arenas.

Next time, maybe read this before you post.

Just like they did for Starcraft 2 :)
A joke is a joke, but not when its fruit and cake ~
I'm unsure as to what i'll be playing as. I've only really tested out the demon hunter. I'll find one i enjoy playing once it's out and stick with that.

I don't mind the always online stuff. I play plenty of MMO's and *gasp* even happily use steam, so i'm not as militant about that sort of thing.

kaka123: Can't believe it's almost here just a few more months and I'll either be playing as a monk or barbarian!!!!!
I'll play them all over a course of a few months. That being said, i'm going to roll the Barbarian first.
I think I'll try demon hunter first. I haven't tried any of the beta phases but from the description that seems to match my playstyle best.
I think it will be the demon hunter, I just started to get a taste of some of the skills in the open beta then it ended.
