Human Revolution... From what I've been told, I should be able to run the original Deus Ex: Human Revolution just fine, but the Directors cut run's like a slide show because it's from a worse optimzied version of the original game.

Yeah I think that's the one I like too, or at least the version that was released originally here in Australia. I think the "I'm not that good" line works better and the part with the mini Ash's gets boring when it goes on too long in the other versions. Also the alternate ending would have been awesome had they made an Evil Dead 4 set in the future but since they never did stuff it the S-Mart ending is just fine.

Oh my god i forgot about that! The extended version with them removing the chip and the T-1000 malfunctioning is cool but the Ultimate Cut with the image of John Connor in the future and Linda Hamilton in oldface makeup was just bizarre.

The actor who plays adult John Connor looks fine in the prologue, all haggard and everything. However seeing that same guy in a children's playground makes me feel like somebody should call the cops.

Didn't know about this whole DC being worse than the theatrical. I would think the DC just added scenes to the theatrical, not actually making it worse like the new and improved Star Wars Trilogy.

I guess when in doubt watch the theatrical version.

Sad thing is most of my DVDs I bought where most likely the DC. I know my Leon the Professional was, but I can not remember what the difference was to the one I watched.

It is funny that Ridley Scott is the father of the "Director Cut" with the re-edit of Blade Runner, but he hates them.

I find it funny that FOX tried to force him into doing a director's cut with Prometheus; so he gave then a theatrical version that cut tons of quality content that would have vastly improved the film ... it was clearly just beging for a Director's Cut.

Then he flat refused to re-edit it back in for the DVD version and fuck over FOX on all the DC money they were expecting.

Don't know if that's fact or speculation.

But it sucks if its true.

I'll tell you which 'director's cut' is worse than the original. DOOM 3 BFG Edition.

Overbright lighting to kill atmosphere, missing decals to kill atmosphere, cop-out changes to the flashlight to kill atmosphere, no mod compatibility, disturbing lack of customization options (that the original had) and a bonus level that's just a cut & paste job from rooms in the levels you already played.

Oh and Steam DRM.

I will say the original intended version of HRDC on the Wii U is a whole lot better than the original HR, game runs great, looks great and has excellent gamepad features.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was a rush job on PC, Director's cut was supposed to be a Wii U exclusive. With Squeenix bleeding money I can imagine the limited resources going into late development ports.

This topic actually reminds me of one film I wouldn't mind seeing an extended edition of - Jacob's Ladder. Several really intense scenes were cut near the end because the test audiences found them to be "too much" and were leaving the screenings shellshocked. But the cut scenes are really good, and I've always wanted to watch the film with those scenes reintegrated.

It is.

Ever since Blade Runner DC, FOX has been making him produce inferior cuts for the theaters and then pushing for the real version he wanted on the retail release; essentially the same thing that Peter Jackson was intentionally does with his movies, except that Scott hates it.

If you watch the DC version of Kingdom Of Heaven, it is an epic story full of depth and hard truths about the formation of the middle east and the roots of European power ... every scene that was edited back into the movie was critical plot development and none of them were unfinished work or just an alternate angle; they were finished scenes that were made to be in the film and FOX made him cut them to trim for length, dumb down the complexity of the movie, and to contrive material for a director's cut.

With gladiator they didn't make him cut things that he wanted in, but they made him put out a DC version for disk.

With Kingdom Of Heaven they made him cut things, and he wanted to release the real version as much as they wanted a DC.

With Robin Hood they fucked with the basic story be wanted to do (it was supposed to be about the Sheriff of Nottingham, with Robin portrayed as the villain) so he didn't really care when the made him do cuts again, and everything that he pulled for the DC was inconsequential to the story.

When they tried pulling the same shit with Prometheus, he gave them the shitty version they wanted for theaters but then flat refused to do a DC to fuck them over on the retail version in hopes that they would knock off the bullshit.

Gotta say that's kind of unprofessional of him. What was it Nixon used to say about drugs and Patrick Bateman said about a lot of things? "Just say no".

But like I think somebody else here mentioned about Prometheus there are things in that movie which just don't make sense or come off as just plain silly no matter what extra scenes you could throw in to establish them.

I did enjoy the film and due to Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender I still REALLY want them to do a sequel.

Apocalypse Now Redux. It's just boring, when the "normal" version is a masterpiece.

I find the idea of Scott making Prometheus intentionally shitty to be laughable. Completely absurd.
