I added a couple of small community wishlist requests earlier, but I can't find them in the list of most recently active requested site features. Do the requests usually take some time before appearing?

update: I tried again and the requests appeared immediately, so something went wrong before (possibly my Firefox browser as it's loaded up with too many add ons)

Given the unusually high volume of traffic on the site right now, I think you can expect lots of things to happen more slowly than they normally would.

I'm not in a hurry to see these, just wasn't sure if something went wrong, in which case I'll try again at a later time and using a different browser.

I'd give it at least a couple of hours.
