Do you read articles about games or gaming news or do you just watch videos (not trailers but of people talking about games).

Personally I find videos more convenient as I can do something else as I listen, unlike an article which requires all of my attention.
I tend to read articles given that most videos of people talking about games are shitty, but even then I just read things about the industry and more thought pieces than typical gaming news.
Normally I find game play videos more insightful. (just gameplay with nobody talking) I tend to skim through articles a bit too much for them to be that useful. (although they can help sometimes)

I think it's better to look at a video anyway and make your own personal judgement.

Both. Like a boss. :P
I read reviews from people I trust and have similar taste to (Brad Shoemaker, Dan Stapleton and TotalBiscuit are good examples) and watch unedited gameplay videos on Giantbomb or youtube. That is how I make all my purchases decisions.

I don't usually read previews unless I need to know what kind of game a title is.
First thing I do is go to the Steam forums usually (when I buy there) and read what people are saying. If it's a sale I wait till the next day to see possible issues or complaints.

As for video's, Youtube -> Gameplay is usually the first thing I do. A WTF is by Totalbiscuit is another one I like to watch.

Metacritic rating is nice sometimes too but I barely ever take critic reviews at face value, I'm far more interested in user reviews.
I scan review articles and watch part of gameplay or review videos, but mainly for seeing some in-game content and mechanics. I seldom read or watch the whole thing, just quickly skip to the parts that might be of interest to me and in that regard an article is more suitable for my needs, because with a video of, let's say, 10 minutes or so, it's hard to guess where the interesting parts are or if there are any at all. I'd hate to watch a video for that long only to find out, the stuff that would interest me wasn't even mentioned.

If I happen to come across a very good, informative or funny review or gameplay video by chance, I watch or listen to a bit more of it though, possibly while doing other stuff at the same time.
