Yes, I did actually see those patches but since I don’t have the First Decade I just got the Ultimate Collection, since it was simpler. Ordered the Physical disc too for the UC, and still had to download all the games anyway, though I did get a nice physical soundtrack disc, heh!

I had Origin anyway for Mass Effect 3 and Pinnacle Station for ME1... It looked kind of bare with just two items in there.

On the brighter side, the games do run flawlessly on my 64bit system and support more resolutions. CnC 3 Tibarian Wars turned out to be better than I was expecting so I might download CnC 4 just to fiddle with out of curiosity. :)

Alternatively, you could buy The First Decade collection, which contains all the C&C games up to and including Generals and Zero Hour. It's what I did.

No they haven't. Yes you will.
None of the games in First Decade have online DRM. They do require the original serials though, which are all printed on the back of the manual and have to be entered one by one. But it's certainly an improvement. No C&C4 for obvious reasons.

I did have an interesting situation with my Red Alert 2 serial, which apparently was invalid. Nothing a keygen couldn't solve though.

I know you were referring to that, and yes, I was referring to the Ultimate Collection on Origin too. Most, if not all, of the games in the Ultimate Collection require the same fixes as the First Decade versions.

Aside from finding EA's blatant lying about this deplorable, I actually have no real opinion about this. The Ultimate Collection provides a relatively easy way to get all of the C&C games, and they can be fixed. If people can put up with Origin, it's certainly an option to consider.

I'm not sure why you'd defend the Ultimate Collection specifically like this unless you were trying to somehow get people onto Origin.

I do have the Ultimate Collection and I have been able to run it without any patches that were released for the First Decade set so from my perspective they work fine thus, from my perspective, EA was not lying.

One thing I'll say about Origin is it has worked without issue for me. The store leaves a lot to be desired as far as ease of use and layout (and their sales are a bit of a joke), but the times when my internet connection has dropped hasn't been a problem. If I was playing an Origin-required game, Origin just automatically dropped into off-line mode without interrupting the game at all. I've had less issues with Origin than Steam. For what that's worth. :)

It was perfectly clear from the context that The Ultimate Collection was meant as this entire thread is about the Ultimate Collection. Your post was a whole two lines, and the only thing I removed was the comment about it needing Origin because it was irrelevant in this case.

If it works perfectly without fixes for you, fine, but I can point you to dozens of other threads of people who it did not work for. I'm not making any claims about whether or not it is worth it, I'm not making any claims about EA or whatever. I am simply stating that the game is broken in its delivered state and there are easy fixes for it. It's a relatively uncontroversial statement and I'm not sure why you'd kick up a stink about it other than if you were some kind of EA shill.
