i'm a huge fan of dungeon crawler type games, diablo, baldur's gate, that sorta thing. does anyone have any games they could recommend to me? i've been checking into depths of peril and it looks pretty interesting. also my computer specs arent that great, i'm on a netbook so yeah.....
its a gateway lt3103u: windows vista(unfortunately, need to downgrade to xp but dont have external cd/dvd drive), AMD Athlon 64 L110 Single-Core Processor (1.2GHz, 800MHz FSB, 512KB L2 Cache), 2gigs of ram, ATI Radeon X1270 Graphics and AMD RS690E Chipset, 250gig hdd.
any recommendations that my netbook could handle. i've already downloaded Arx Fatalis from here and i was thinking about getting Gothic and Gothic II but i've heard the control scheme is a major pain in the ass.
Depends on what exactly you mean by 'dungeon crawler.' Diablo, Baldur's Gate, and Arx Fatalis are all pretty different from each other.
i dont mean to be terribly specific i suppose, i'm just looking a for a solid, tradition, hack'n'slash single player rpg to keep me entertained in my downtime. i'm open to pretty much anything.
Here on GOG is Sacred Gold.
http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/sacred_gold
Not on GOG would be Icewind Dale 1&2 (think Baldur's Gate but you make the whole party)
Merdian XL mod for Diablo
Those are some I would look into.
Well, if you're looking for something along the lines of Diablo, listen to Sielle and try Sacred Gold, which is my personal favorite hack-and-slasher. If you're up for something more traditional, you can't go wrong with the seven-piece Might & Magic collection.

There's also a graphic problem in Gothic 1 with Radeon X1x00 series cards that causes inventory icons to be invisible. It's not gamestopper bug but anoying. Same goes with control scheme.
If you like isometric RPG's (like Baldur's Gate) GOG has Fallout 1&2. For Action RPG (like Diablo) fans GOG has Sacred Gold.
If you played Realms of Arkania trilogy (parts 1&2 available here), and liked it, you should definitely try Drakensang: The Dark Eye.
If not, try RoA, or the Ishar series, those are hardcore dungeon crawlers (yeah, real dungeons). :)
sweet. thanks for the suggestions, i'll try out sacred gold i think, i've been looking at it. and i probably wont get Gothic knowing that my graphics card will gimme probs, invisible icons would bug me lol. i'm in the army and we're gettin ready to ship out to fort carson in colorado for a month long training block and i wanted to download a game or 2 to give me something to do in my downtime(if i get any).

In that case, if you like old school RPG's, I'd pickup Fallout 1&2 and the Might and Magic series... that should keep you busy for your whole deployment. (Along with Sacred Gold for mindless hack and slash)
just bought sacred gold, downloading it right now heh.
i'm eventually getting fallout 1 and 2, dont think i'd like tactics tho. might and magic is a toss-up for me, never played them before and i've heard alot of good things about the series but i dunno. i'm just gonna be in colorado for a month, but when i deploy to afghanistan in april it will be for about 15 months, so yeah.....i'm gonna need to get ALOT of games heh. straying off topic i thought it was awesome that prince of persia sands of time was on this site, i need to get that too, great game.

Yeah, that's the thing, "dungeon crawl" can mean "Diablo-like" or Ultima Underworld/Arx Fatalis/Eye of the Beholder-esque
On GOG I'd say Sacred for the Diablo-likes, and Arx/M&M/Stonekeep etc for the others.
Depths of Peril is great, try the demo to see how well it runs. Gothic has a demo as well I believe. Torchlight and Titan Quest are also something to look at for Diablo-likes.
EDIT: Oh, a netbook, yeah, that's gonna limit you to the older titles.

i played the first titan quest before i joined the army and i still had my pc, loved it, if my netbook could play it i'd be all over that shit. my pc had problems with it and it had a single core 2.4ghz or something AMD, and the min requirement is like 1.8, i would suggest higher than that lol, like 3.0ghz if you dont have a dual core.
sacred gold should keep me happy for a while.
Netbook does limit things, but you'd still probably do well to try Torchlight when it makes it out in a few weeks as they were aiming for a very wide spec range---even some testing on a netbook of some sort at one point IIRC.
Divine Divinity is also in the middle of some kinda "fixing" phase after all these years...so that'd be something to keep tabs on as well.
There's always the freebie Daggerfall....
will daggerfall run on windows vista? i was just searchin it up on google and it said something about dos
