(no, before you ask, it is not a remake of The Eidolon)

Eidolon is a new upcoming game from new indie studio Ice Water Games.

Thee pitch:

"Eidolon, a narrative exploration game set in a massive, post-human Western Washington.

Eidolon is a game about exploring a mysterious landscape and uncovering the stories of the people who lived there once before. It is a game about history, curiosity, interconnectedness, and the slow and inevitable beauty of life.

You will be dropped into the dreary and mystical Western Washington circa 2400 c.e. with a bow, fishing rod, and little to guide your way. Awaiting you is a vast landscape filled with wildlife, edible plants, and the historical artefacts of our now-dead culture—journals, newspapers, zines, brochures, transcripts, and more. You must spend your fleeting moments moving through this place, collecting what was left behind, and piecing together what happened to these people, both from a historical perspective and from a much more personal one."

The game looks very fascinating. I love the graphical style, and narrative exploration game is right up my street. I think this may be one worth keeping an eye on.

Wasn't Eidolon the third Serpent Rider? Hopefully Zenimax don't sue them (not sure who owns the Hexen series).

Yes it was, however eidolon is an old greek word meaning spirit image or phantom of a dead or living person. So I do not think it can trademarked (like Bethesda could not trademark the word scrolls). In any case, a trademark must be in use if you want to protect it, and I do not think that Zenimax can claim that.
Seems okay. The art style is interesting but it doesn't knock me off my feet, I mean, there's already been Proteus and Shelter. As for the game's premise - sounds promising but the idea is one thing, the question is whether the developers will be able to actually turn it into a satisfying experience. Let's hope so, will probably check on the game from time to time.
Ahh so it was a C64 game... i still have it

Thanks for the heads-up amok. Voted.
I am cautiously intrigued.
Tentative release date: Mid-July. (http://www.icewatergames.com/post/86510812469/when)

You can pre-order it now for $10 via Humble Widgets, and expect it to cost a bit more on release.
The idea itself could maybe be more original. I have seen journeys to the past quite often. Instead they could maybe just have said, discover and alternate universe (some more alien culture) and it would be much more interesting to me. The graphics style is special but very consistent. If the trees and the grass is not the same verywhere but shows some more variety and details when coming closer I would probably like it.
