Alright, so this game does have a bit of a cult following, but it's nice to see it getting a bit more recognition. For you who have never played it, watch the video. It's one of the greatest 4X games of all time, marred by some rather major problems (namely its AI, some balancing issues & the fact that as the planets are not randomized so knowing where to find what gives you a huge edge).

I absolutely love EFS. The issues could be taken care of through the huge amount of fan made patches. The game itself had such an epic feel to it. I remember watching in horror as the symbiots (think flood from halo) were consuming planet after planet all because the noble house that held the office of the imperial fleet did not defend against them. Always wondering if the merchant league was about to make there play at dominance. Watching the spy warfare on the capital planet. All the while preparing my fleets to attack my enemies. It is truly an epic 4x that I would love to see get more attention.
