Ryan333: I keep going back and forth between Baldur's Gate 2 and Neverwinter Nights. BG2 has the better story out of the box, hands down. But NWN has the toolset and SO MANY custom modules, some of which are better than a lot of commercial RPGs, not to mention some very well made persistent worlds.
Suggest me some good modules.
There are some games I've been playing for years (for example Diablo-Diablo 2) but that was many years ago and I've lost interest in them since then, in particular when I discovered 10 years ago Gothic and Gothic 2... and yes, I'm still playing them and I'm going to play them even in the next years, with or without mods. :D

At the beginning of this year, I was really surprised by Planescape: Torment (it's the first game which I bought here on GOG), but It's still soon to say that It's my favorite game... surely it is an excellent candidate ^_^

bazilisek: System Shock. The first one.

But yeah, there are many more games I consider perfect. It's just that I find SS the perfectest of them all.
Question: how replayable is SS1? I've never beaten it (although currently I'm trying to remedy that), but I would be very sad if it ended up losing all its magic on a second playthrough.

Beats me, I've only played it once. And it's perfectly possible it's not actually as good as I remember it, so I'm not sure if I want to replay it. Though the mouselook mod is very, very tempting.

Right, System Shock. Basically, what they did was designing a space station complete with Engineering, hydroponics, crew quarters, bridge, security, and threw some secrets. When they've done that, they have created 'safe zones' that would have likely been created by resisting crew - barricaded sections of the station, rewired doors etc., and ways in which SHODAN fought against them - locked down sections of the base, cameras, CPU nodes, reprogrammed ressurection stations (yes, there are ressurection stations in the game that turn you into cyborg when you die - or revive you if you manage to turn them back. At many levels, it's difficult to even get to them.)

Now, given the story difficulty you pick, you're more restricted in your movement in favour of story, that's more detailed by increasing the difficulty setting. However, even at second biggest setting (the max only adds time limit,) you've still got a lot of ways to reach many areas, plenty of secrets to find - some of which provide ANOTHER path into sealed areas - and generally, it's very rewarding to explore and you can bet that you will miss something on your first and second playtrough. So yes, the game is quite replayable. And since it's not even THAT long, I have finished it 4 or 5 times in relatively short time frame.

There's a thread Here that may interest you. I'll ad a few suggestions as well:

Darkness Over Daggerford
Runes of Blood
Against the Cult of the Reptile God (A very well dne PnP conversion of an old TSR module)
Tales of Arterra
A Tragedy in Tragidor

There's also the Ultimate List if you're looking for something intended for a specific character level (note: the list does not have ratings included).

Pit Stop 2
Maniac Mansion
Carmageddon 2

Series: Grand Theft Auto, Age of Empires, Resident Evil
Wasteland, followed closely by Final Fantasy 1.
Gothic 3 with the community patch
Icewind Dale
Half-Life 2
Super Mario Bros.
Legend of Zelda - Ocarina of Time
Age of Wonders

Also, it pains me to say this, but the hundreds (thousands?) of hours I've spent playing the Madden NFL franchise over the last twenty years as to earn it a spot on the list.
Going solely by hours played, my number one spot would easily go to NWN1. After that it's Icewind Dale, followed by the Baldur's Gate series. Next closest would be Dragon Age.

Oh, and Skyrim is steadily climbing in the number of hours played (however, even though I like the game a lot, I doubt I'd put it in a personal 'top 5' list)

There are many other games I've played that I like. And a lot. But no other games have kept me occupied for the sheer number of hours as these ones.

SpirlaStairs: Persona 3

It's been 3 years since I played it, I've played dozens of games since then and none of them have come close to Persona 3.

ovoon: I played Persona 4 first, so it's my favorite game of all time. Persona 3 is in my top five for sure though. I just didn't like the character development as much. It felt like there were some pointless characters that were just there to be cool party members. Like the dog?
Yeah the dog was kind of pointless.

The reason is probably like Persona 3 so much is because it's the first game in the series I played. Also the ending was really good.
