As far as the time limit, I think the general approved one is 1 day/player + A few days. Honestly, a week for Day 1 would screw the town over unless RVS lasted a few hours (Which is rarely does, considering the time zone differences).

I won't join unless really necessary (put me deep on reserve list) but I want to say that I think 7 days is not enough for day 1. It may suffice for later days but for D1 it is not enough in my opinion. (Doesn't mean they have to hit it.) It hardly stays and it's already over and often D1 reads can be crucial.
Few more could help. If you want as low as possible I would go with no. of players as number of days, or perhaps no. of days -2? But then if the games ends with 3 players standout they would only have 1 day. Of course you can accomodate it later as you see fit. Or make every day last 10-14 days? But I like the days getting shorter more personaly.
Ultimately it is your decision, though, and players will have to roll with whatever you choose.
