System Shock 2 and Grim Fandango are really taking a beating. I guess they are probably quite unknown outside long-time hardcore PC gamers, but at least it is nice to see them as entries. In fact, I'm pleasantly surprised how many PC-only entries there are.

On the other hand, Planescape Torment is doing better...

Did Shadow of the Colossus even have a story? Isn't it more like "in medias res" pure gameplay taking down giant monsters?

It's only logical. Unlike System Shock 2 and Grim Fandango, Planescape Torment has actually been available for purchase for a long time, even in retail.

I have to disagree. The redemption story may be standard, but that's not what the whole story is about. Heck, every main character from your party has a story worth of a game.

Why are the vast majority of these games shooter and action games (which aren't usually known for complex or interesting stories)? Where are the adventure games???

Also, I've never even heard of Shadow of the Colossus!
