I got Anachronox a while ago. I've really been struggling to get through the starting city. The game is just so fetch questy and it's getting really monotonous. The battle system doesn't ignite any fires either and the battle music doesn't make me feel like fighting at all. The humour is fairly likeable but it's not enough.

Does it get better? Is it worth soldiering on?

I would probably put the Elder Quest game here too, I love them and get a lot of play time out of them....but I normally don't end up completing the main quest.

Stevedog13: I've debated getting the full game hoping that if the story is really that good then it'll help carry me through it, but that didn't work for me with Baldurs Gate so I'm not sure.
Well... First Baldur's Gate doesn't really have a good story, and demo of The Witcher was a badly translated mess - enhanced edition's got both a new translation, and a lot of additions (including little video explaining Geralt's journey to that village.) Also, real story with all it's intrique starts in seconds chapter. Witcher currently costs 5 bucks on gog - it's a steal.

Oh also, about carrying trough it... The story is actual focus of the witcher. Roughly 30% is fighting, 70% is dialogue and decisionmaking. If you are not into that kind of stuff, you will not enjoy the game.
Fallout: New Vegas. I got it on release day, and it was unplayable. I eventually got bored of waiting for patches to make it playable, and I still haven't gotten around to seeing if they've fixed it yet.
Thief The Dark Project....I got to the third level and now im stuck in some giant underground maze, im really too lazy to run around it for hours, also too many godamn zombies and stuff

i wanted to thieve stuff not fight zombies

The Witcher....i got tot the city and then i just got a ton of random quests about tons of random people and i just forget what im doing, and half the time the npcs arent there

Bioshock...just didnt find it very fun/interesting

Ultima Underworld...just too many items you need without knowing it and if you lose one you're screwed, totally makes me not wanna play it

and well every other ultima game...they're godamn hard without a guide

See, now why didn't they just put that on the back of the box. That actually makes the game sound better than what I have been envisioning. Maybe I will pick it up this weekend.

TheWhiteRose: Nexuiz Beta. The matchmaking is broken as hell.
I never could get a match for Nexuiz to come up... I gave up on the game and no longer care, there's a million other shooters vying for my attention that aren't broken as all hell.

Just remember that the 5 bucks part is only true as long as it's on sale, it normally costs 10. Still a steal if you ask me, I rate The Witcher as one of the best games I have ever played (then again, I also loved the books it's based upon.)
X3 Reunion - I love Freelancer and I was thinking that X3 would be the same fun, just more advanced. Well, I never even finished the first mission. I...just got lost in all those tiny indicators and unreadable small menus and didn't know where to fly or who to shoot. :/
