http://www.gamesrepublic.com/ is to launch tomorrow, April 23rd.

As announced few months later, e.g. here:

http://gamasutra.com/view/news/204436/Games_Republic_a_communitybased_games_storefront.php

Do you think is it a competition or potential partner for GOG? Or maybe these 2 sites are to co-exist peacefully on the market?
Judging by the eye-cancerous red text on grey background I'd say neither. :P
Seriously, I refuse to read the text even once... whatever the page says, it's not worth my eyesight.

Edit: Oh, it gets even better further below where there's red text on red wires in the background. Oh my...

zeffyr: co-exist peacefully on the market?
As opposed to what, violently opposing each other?
i don't really understand what it will do unique. I don't want to see the wheel reinvented, i just want a place where to buy cheap nice games preferably drm free, that's about it. All I see on that page is a bunch of fluff.

No .
Also, anybody else feeling weird about them having a fist as a symbol for something that goes by the name of "republic"? The combo makes my brain hurt.

Looks like they are trying to get dev's (with help from bloggers) to sell through their store much like Humble. If anything it looks like competition for Humble. Not GOG. I couldn't name any bloggers of games to be honest.

And that frontpage is dreadful imho...who in this day and age makes a frontpage which scrolls like that ...so loooooooonnngg....

No, you see, they are direct competitors because GOG's and 11 Bit Studios' offices are practically on the same street. See the attachment.

Battle of the road
I don't see any mention of offering DRM-free games, so no.
Sounds like populist rabble psychobabble.
