Retro Gamer is a good magazine. It's expensive as hell to get it here in the US, but I think it's worth it.
Another good one, which is a free online PDF, is the Nintendo Age e-zine.

Gaming magazines (or any magazines) in Malaysia are tax deductible.
Government encourages the citizen of Malaysia to read.
Unfortunately, due to lotsa piracy of all medias and getting stuck in traffic jams at all times. Not many people have reading habits, including me.
We have all US and UK PC gaming magazine, except they cost a bomb. Buy a single imported magazine => pay for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

In my country? Well in HK we have terrible, terrible, TERRIBLE magazines. So bad that they probably copy images online and write something about it.
I read Wired US online free, PC Gamer (US), and that's about it now.

Mag... a... zine? I think I remember those things, they were the paper things that cost too much, was only worth reading once and were months behind on their information weren't they?

Nah, sometimes they were only a couple of weeks behind, and every once in a while there would be an article worth reading twice.

Well we have one in Poland that is actually still worth buying.

Ste Curran, one of its former writers, once sent me a stack of them because almost no stores sold EDGE in Belgium and while the writing was excellent, there was an obvious bias against the PC. Console games would often get higher scores for worse games - especially RPG and RTS games. Not a magazine on whose reviews I could rely, that's for sure. A bit too much "head up their asses".

It's debatable if it is still worth buying. I don't think I will be buying it any more after my subscription is over (and I've been reading it since late 1998). The amount of mistakes and misinformation is getting out of hand. And they clearly target a different audience now compared to a few years ago.
Anyway - I miss Reset :(.

Retrogamer is mostly ace but they're repeating themselves quite a bit. I bought loads of their old issues on eBay and discovered they delve into the same games over time. The thing is, there's thousands of classics so why do they feel the need to focus on the same game (series) more than once when there's so many more out there?
Also, their mag has a very obvious bias against PC gaming. Very often, they'll mention a game being "for Amiga" when a) it had a PC release at the same time b) the PC release was better. There's tons of PC games they could delve into yet they don't. So far, only PC games which had Amiga releases have been mentioned with a few exceptions which is starting to get grating. Retro gaming is retro gaming - who gives a crap whether the system is still alive or not. It's about the games and when a game is 15 years old, I think you can call it a retro game.

As someone who still has all Reset Issues with one exception (2/98) I think I should point out "some" mistakes here :).
First - I wouldn't call it short-lived - more than 4 years on the market and 51 issues (compared to original Top Secret's 55).
Yes - it was created by the people from Secret Service, but that was more than 4 years before SS shut down (and 2 years before Gambler shut down).
And just for nostalgic reasons - scan of my first gaming magazine: Top Secret issue 6 - August/September 1991 (some parts are missing because the format is too big for my scanner :)).

I still subscribe to PC Zone but it has gone downhill a lot over the past years even more so that it got bought over by Future publishing that usually merges bought mags into their own brands.
Retro gamer is a great read though has a lot of good articles that bring a smile to my face when the mention an old spectrum or atari st game i had forgoton about.
