Hey all, inspired by Leroux's thread:
http://www.gog.com/en/forum/general/any_good_2player_games_on_the_pc_other_than_trine

I wanted to ask you about games to play with a friend. Basically, my friend has been a console gamer since forever (mainly Xbox) and he recently got a pretty decent laptop. The idea was that we'd start playing together.

Didn't really work out though. I realised that I don't really play multiplayer and as for the games that I do play, the difficulty curve is too steep (CS 1.6, Civ III, SC2). He works a lot as well, so the idea is to get a good, fun, solid game that we can play for maybe a maximum of two hours per session. I'd prefer it to have depth, but be easy to get into. Ideally, I'd prefer co-op. Sandbox would be a bonus.

List of eliminated games:
-all MMOs
-Magicka
-Sanctum
-Killing Floor
-Borderlands

I'm currently thinking about Saint's Row 3 and Hard Reset. I own both but haven't played either... Would these be worth a shot? Please feel free to leave more suggestions.

Ha, I've never tried this game but it looks interesting! I'm not sure that the graphical style will appeal to my friend though... More suggestions please!

We played Killing Floor for a while and had fun doing so, but the game is unfortunately too shallow for me... You play it 5 times, you've seen it all.
Heroes of Might and Magic Series (mainly 2 and 3)
Space Marine (easy to pick up)
Worms Armageddon (I would advise you to stay clear of Worms Reloaded. Unless they fixed the bugs)
Alien Swarm (Free, fun and easy to pick up)
Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer (more fun than I thought it would be)
Diablo 2 (Yep. This one is still fun)
How about some co op play on Diablo 2, its really fun running about obliterating everything in sight.

It's on my list on the previous post, you thief!
Copyambidextrous infringed detected. 8-)
Initial reaction: Portal 2. Then I realized it doesn't have very high replay value.

Never mind. Sorry.

Thanks for the suggestions thus far guys! Diablo II isn't going to work unfortunately. Also, he doesn't like D3, even though I'm properly stoked for it :(

Keep them coming!
Neverwinter Nights 1 and 2 is another possibility
resident evil 5 is a great co-op game, only downer is its a tad short

Well you know the old saying......Great minds think alike!

At the time your post wasnt there when I opened this thread, got a knock on the door from one of those charities that go door to door. Didnt refresh the page and just posted!

Thinking on now though.

Brink is a decent co op game, has a fair bit of replayability also. Not forgetting the customisation options, 2 campaigns and there is also full team co op if you want more players. Bear in mind it is Steamworks though.

RAGE has some decent co op stuff. Legends on the Wasteland which has a few extra areas that you dont see in SP, there is also the buggy (as in vehicle) multiplayer which is a blast. Once again Steamworks.

The 3 Deatspank games (Deathspank, Thongs of Virtue & The Baconing) are co op, fun running about with some wacky characters and excellent writing. Not forgetting you can get The Baconing with the current Be Mine 2 Bundle, bear in mind that bundle is ending in around 12 hours. Another one that is Steamworks also.
Minecraft? Easy to get into, surprising amount of depth & co-op. Also, how about Baldur's Gate (2 at least is playable in multiplayer).

Baldur's Gate 2 is not multiplayer friendly in my opinion. It's fun of course if you have the patience. I can recommend it if OP and his friend are devoted enough to get around the clunky Pause system in MP.
Terraria?
Left 4 Dead?
Left 4 Dead 2?
Hunted - The Demon's Forge?
Lord Of The Rings - War In The North?

Thanks for the tips guys... This is a hard one. I suggested Bionic Commando, which is apparently amazing in co-op and his response was "Why is your taste in games so old and spasticated?" He's a console kiddie, what can I say.

I think I'll try Saint's Row 3, Hunted and Space Marine as those are more recent titles. If you can suggest anything else, would be great :)

Anyone know if there's co-op in Hard Reset? What's the MP like?
