I also heard about a game archiving project that made it possible to guarantee properly emulating the game's install environment across the ages... if only I could find it again.
Anyway I'm more interested in knowing where I'll be 10 years from now.

In ten years we will be too busy surviving the zombie apocolypse, alien invasions, and rise of the iMachines (unless a reprogrammed iBorg is sent back in time to kill Steve Jobs' mother) to play silly games like L4D, Halo, and ME.

In ten years, there won't be any GOG.com or other software selling organisations. In 10 years, we only have our smartphones and big screens. Everything will be wireless streamed from the internet to your devices. You would only pay for the time of usage. Evrything will run flawlessly in emulators on any device. Hardware won't be important anymore - so will software not be any problem of choice. The only thing that will matter is how much time and money you will have to spend for your multimedial entertainment - and of course feeding your body ... the future is bright! (Why is the idea of The Matrix so bad, anyway?)

I imagine GOG will sell any game a publisher agrees to sell DRM free for $10 or less from now until the site closes, "good" and "old" or not.
