Here's a solution they gave me for Firefox.....
This is extremely strange... Let's try one final thing. Please go to Firefox's options and go to the Applications tab. Find "gogdownloader", click the "Use GOGDownloader (...)" option and select "Use different application". Find the newly downloaded Downloader and confirm all changes. Regards,Firek GOG.com Support

Go to your shelf. Click on a game. Click the ? icon next to 'add to downloader.'

Count yourself lucky... mine did the same, but deleted all but 800Mb... nearly 9Gb lost :/

Can't log in at all with the GOG downloader. I click on the login button and nothing happens. Tried a few suggestions from these forums but to no avail. Also it says I'm offline for some reason.

Pretty sure I got the newest version.

For me it downloaded about a gig then paused forever. I couldn't get it to resume after restarting it repeatedly, so I deleted it and started over, which also didn't work.

Now I'm just downloading it in browser, the GoG downloader sucks big time.

This same problem kept occurring to me a few days ago. What I finally did to get it working was to go into the options/preferences menu of my browser (I'm using Firefox 4), click on the Applications tab, and find the gogdownloader under the "Content Type" heading, then under "Action" next to it, manually find the place where you unzipped the new downloader and make sure that it is selected. I think that GOG was trying to open game downloads with the old Air downloader (which no longer existed on my computer). I also went into my computer's firewall settings and deleted the old rule that applied to the Air downloader and manually added a new rule to allow the current downloader. That solved the problem for me (at least for most game downloads, I'm still having problems pre-downloading the Witcher 2).

I'm hoping that solves it for you. I'm not a very technical person, but our problems sounded very similar.

(I forgot to add, I'm also using Windows 7 x64).

Got trouble first I got a box to select what file but I forgot to unzip the downloaded file
so I aborted restarted my browser but I did not get the file selection box it will not
come Is there a way to find the file select box for me? I am using firefox 4

Would it be possible to add an option to download bonus content using the GOG Downloader, It would make it easier having it all downloaded to one place away from the normal browser downloads and easier to keep track of which ones you have downloaded or not.

This would possibly come in handy with the Witcher 2 bonus material as to download all of it would be similar to downloading a game and would make things easier than possibly losing bandwidth and time with browser downloading.

So I go to the task launcher to finally maximize the downloader, and it asks for my account info. I enter password and email, the same ones I've been using for over a year, and it claims I entered the wrong info. but I can still log in online just fine...wow. so much for being hassle free GoG. Its been one issue after another so far.

New GOG user here, just signed up today to get the witcher enhanced ed and i am having issues with the downloader too, it wont let me login using email and password. using downloader 0.9.0.1372


UPDATE Seems to be working fine now.

It took me over 20 hours to download & install The Witcher (see my sob story on that game forum), but it worked, it passed integrity checks, and it installed fine, despite seeming to be composed of a thousand little chunks...

Special characters ("=" among others) in the password and "+" in the e-mail seems to confuse it.

Now that we have the new version any chance of a new version without chunks? One that is as fast and smooth as the original downloader? The current procedure of first downloading small bits and then building big files from them is painstakingly slow. If you want to make it like a torrent then why not simply make it like a torrent?

Here's a radical suggestion GOG - why not drop the download manager altogether and instead work on making your download system function with all other browsers and download managers out there? Most web browsers are perfectly capable of resuming interrupted downloads, when allowed to.

And this is the nub of the problem - the only reason people can't resume interrupted downloads at the moment is because you aren't allowing them - if a download is paused for even a second, any attempt to access that URL is subsequently rejected with an HTTP 403 (Forbidden) error code.

You don't have to do this (and for a couple of weeks after the fake site closure you didn't - which meant that browsers and download managers worked OK) and it would be far more convenient to your customers if you just allowed them to use the software they prefer, rather than imposing a utility that requires extra support from you, and extra hassle for everyone else.

If you want to guard against abuse of the download URLs, there are several ways to do so without causing customer inconvenience such as (a) allowing access to the URL from one IP address for a longer period of time (say one day); (b) embedding randomly chosen username/passwords in the URL; (c) checking HTTP cookies to ensure only logged in users can access the URL or (d) using HTTPS and encrypting everything.

The current download system is not only needlessly paranoid but also counter to GOG's philosophy of allowing users to do what they want with their purchases.
