So i read on the webz that Microsoft hinted that they'd release Windows 9 at some point. Sooner than most people thought or expected.

Now, the problem for me is this :
I finished downloading all my GOG games (220 at September 2013) with all their extras and stored 'em in my external HDD. Then i noticed that there were 2.0 versions of installers. It took me a while to understand what 2.0 stood for.
Apparently it means that the installer has compatibility with Windows 8.
I still use windows 7 though and i don't quite care, but i started updating the versions for completion reasons.

But now that i saw the news about Windows 9, i find it all my actions were in vain and i lost my will to live.

My question is,
Did the 1.00 installers had any problems when installed on Windows 8 OS?
I know that even if they had, that won't mean a lot, cause every OS has a different architecture from the old one, but i just want a little hope...

The Start Menu problem you mentioned is quite small for me.

The compatibility fixes/problems is what i was referring mostly to...But if it's only the exception for some games, then it's not as bad as i though it would be.

Do what I do - simply roll with it and download the new installers when you actually come to play the games or - if you have limited bandwidth or a bandwidth cap, only download the new installers as and when you encounter problems.

With 200+ plus games you'll go mad trying to keep all your installers up-to-date, and the benefits are limited.

The funny thing is, it is being increasingly rumored now that the Start menu (not just the Start button) might make a comeback in Windows 9, ie. MS finally admits it was a bit of a silly move to remove it in a desktop OS, and forcing a touchy-feely Modern Start Screen also on desktops.

So maybe those 1.0 installers actually work better on Windows 9, than they did in Windows 8/8.1 :)

But then, knowing Microsoft, maybe they make some other new stupid design decisions that break something else. For example, I am just waiting for them to start forcing of installing all applications/games under e.g. "Program Files" (due to security reasons or whatever as a scapegoat), which would again break the change in GOG installers where games are by default installed elsewhere. :)
