I recently joined GOG because of the free Fallout Giveaway (which was totally awesome by the way!) and instantly loved it. I bought a couple of games during the Winter Sale but mainly added them to my wishlist to see if they get even better prices in daily deals.

The end of the sale caught me by surprise (because I assumed - don’t ask why - that it will last until 31. December) and suddenly all the great deals disappeared.
Don´t get me wrong: I´m not complaining about the prices (they are still pretty nice) but if I would have been aware of the sale ending I would have bought a lot more games than I actually have.

So here´s my question: How does the whole sale thing work on GOG? Are there others big sales comparable to the Winter Sale (e.g. summer sale) or smaller (e.g. weekly) sales?

We just had the insomnia sale around fall, and before that the summer sale (which is every year).
There's weekend promo and Monday and Wednesday promo almost every week. ;)
Stick around and trust me, eventually you will get sick of sales. :P Seriously, they are always putting something on special or putting a bundle together and just when you think you're done they'll start something new at discounts you can't pass up, leaving you broke, alone, and starving, but loaded with great games! :D
I think last year's sale lasted through the New Year into January. Perhaps this year's ended early because GOG have some important releases lined up?

Sorry you missed the sale, Domy85. I have a spare Witcher gift code you can have if you'd like.

There are usually a couple of big sales every year. Christmas & Summer being the big ones, though there are usually themed ones as well, like around Halloween, and a major spring & autumn sale. Apart from that, there are weekend sales (usually for a franchise, or from a specific publisher), and two promos for specific games each week.
There's always some discounts here and there. Big sales are hitting GOG every two months or so, but there's smaller discounts (and the traditional weekend sale) every week. By now I think it's easy to consider non-big-sale time as "resting time", so you can, well, recover for a while in-between the massive ones. However, there's always (at least in my case) a game or two discounted in the weekends that you'll want, so in the end the feeling I get is that there's always a discount on something.
Thank you all for the optimistic answers. GOG seems to have a pretty nice community.

I just stick around and wait for some nice Weekend Sale. Maybe it’s even the great D&D-Bundle, I´m still sad that I missed that one. :-(

If the rumors are true, we will see the next Sale already starting tomorrow. ;-)

If you check the front page of gog and look at the news section it will tell you when sales will end. I was also surprised by the Dec 29th ending, but who knows they may do something for New Years. I would recommend being patient. Even when new games are listed. The will go on sale and you will have lots and lots to play... ; - )

The D&D Bundle pops up every couple of months it seems. I think it went on sale 5 or 6 times this year. You probably won't have to wait too long for another chance.
