Hello guys! You see, I've been seeing a lot of people actually prefer Gog over Steam and I'd like to know which program you use most and why. I've been using Steam for awhile now and I have 96 games on the program but I'd be willing to switch to Gog if it's better.

steam has more games, gog has more soul
I have some games on Steam but lots more games on GOG.
I dislike the Steam client.
I like being able to save the installer of GOG games and being able to install them whenever I want without internet access.
With GOG games I like not having to identify or register myself or jump through any anti-piracy hoops to play a game I
bought legally.

Gog isn't really a program. Just a store. But GOG wipes the floor with steam.
Apples and oranges. They both have pros, cons, and legions of fanboys.

I use both with good conscience, although if a game is available on both GOG and Steam for a roughly similar price, I always buy it on GOG.

Going off topic: where did you get your icon, AlfaLykos? I saw Tiy have one similar to that, and I'm want to know where you got it.

GOG, because GOG people actually care about their customers, each game comes with a lot of extras (just check the extra for Fallout saga), you can play without people telling you what they've eaten for dinner while you are fighting Shodan.

But I own a lot of games on Steam too, because some new releases are Steam-only, so if you want play them, you must buy'em on Steam.

Sometimes I like to do achievements, if they are funny to complete and actually put you into a real challenge.
GOG has me and that is......wait.....why does anyone use GOG?
depends what you are after.

gog is DRM, free - but steam is more convenient and more functionality (subject to subjectivity)
Steam sells new AAA, Indies and some old games - but gog sells some Indies and make sure older games are working properly
Steam do not care what they sell - gog only sell those who agree to DRM free.
Meh, GOG are maybe the good guys compared to Steam but Steam is still easily the good guys compared to Origin, XBox marketplace, Sony Store, Nintendo store etc.
Steam is like a nice local, independant gaming shop that have really good sales but is full of kids that have slipped their mothers sides and are in there being annoying while GOG is more like a local pub (or 'bar') that sells games instead of beer, where everyone knows your name and underagers are mostly kept away!

That's MY take anyway!
My actual daily gaming playlist is made up of about 40% Steam, 40% GOG and 20% others (digging out retail copies, Other DD like Gamersgate and Freeware, like the first 2 Eldar Scrolls)
Although, to tell the truth, if I end up with a game on both GOG and Steam I'll probably install the Steam version for patch management, not having to have an installer AND the installed game taking up twice the space, cloud saving etc. and, yes, achievements etc. where applicable, sad but true

You might want to find another game to use as an example from now on ^^
I like both gog.com and Steam.

But I will say what I like about both gog.com and Steam.

gog.com I like because almost all of the video games that gog.com sells are 100% Digital Rights Management (DRM) free.

Steam I like because well I have been using Steam since 2004 so nostalgic feelings. However I have not purchased 1 single video game from Steam since January 01, 2013 because I am fed up with Digital Rights Management (DRM) copy protection client software being on the physical boxed versions of the PC version of video games sold at brick and mortar retailer stores world wide. I am fed up with lots of PC versions of video games being sold exclusively on Steam and not coming to gog.com 100% Digital Rights Management (DRM) free. So I am not going to purchase PC versions of video games that are exclusively sold on Steam only.

If the PC versions of video games get sold on both gog.com and Steam then I will happily purchase video games from Steam again.

I don't want Steam becoming the only place where AAA video game publishing companies, AAA video game development companies, and lots of indie video game developers selling the PC versions of their video games.
Steam is good for newer games. If you want an update or dlc it's quick to install and get rolling (the client does most of the work for you)

GOG is good for older games. They are DRM free which as a nice bonus don't interfere with the game and the games are improved to work on newer OS's. You won't get that from Steam even if they throw older titles on the catalog (I bought Vampire: Bloodlines on Steam and it didn't run due to the amount of RAM I had. I was left to install a fan patch the alternative was taking the systems RAM down to 2gig)
I have never purchased a Game on Steam for myself - while I have purchased 272 Games from GOG for myself. If that means anything or helps you out.
