Here's an idea, what if you had the option to load money onto your GOG account (wallet) and then be able to set a price you would pay for a certain game. If that game ever drops below that price you automatically buy it with money from the wallet.

Such a feature would give GOG and the game devs an increadably good feedback how much money people are willing to play for a certain game and help GOG design their deals.

Any opinions? Is it a win-win for everyone or is it not?
Things that come to mind are pricing errors (problem for GOG), or things like already having bought the game elsewhere, only to find out GOG made a purchase as well. (sure, mistake of the user, assuming it didn't happen around the same time, but still going to lead to a bigger load on Customer support)
You would have to prioritize the games. If your wallet has 10$ and 5 games drop to $2.50...

Also, Insomnia sales wouldn't work with this system.

I'm not sure if I would like auto-buy. An email notification if a wishlisted game is on sale would be enough for me.

And this, too.

Yeah, that sounds like a not too interesting idea.
I don't feel like having a computer decide that for me.
Shortly after I joined someone posted a similar idea and from what I remember it didn't go over well. Of course in that instance, if I recall correctly, when the forum voiced their dislike the OP started cursing out everyone. Obviously that didn't help his/her cause. :P
In theory it would be good, but practically this would be quite dangerous without very strict limitations and control..
Also, we already have too many bots here ; )

I agree that the info of how much we would be willing to pay might be interesting and useful. Perhaps adding that to the wishlist would be enough.
GOG wallet is not a bad idea at all. In fact, it is a great idea.
But the Auto-buy system might cause problems, as some previous posts explained.
The GOG Wallet idea is great but I personally would not like it to have an autobuy function just because whenever anyone leaves something up to a given system, whether here or anywhere else, it opens up a huge can of worms.
Email notification for a game wishlisted on sale would be enough for me.
Yes to GOG Wallet, but a big no to auto-transactions. This could trigger a massive headache for the support (especially the whole refund thing) and could also be abused by key resellers. And in insomnia sales, we might witness a phenomenon of being unable to buy the games in question, because the system could favour autobuyers first.

Agreed. A GOG wallet would solve my main issue with the checkout system as it works now -- having to do separate [Paypal] payment transactions if I want to e.g. buy a game for myself and a gift copy of another at the same time. If I could put some $ in a "wallet" and withdraw from that as needed, the back and forth between store and payment processor would mercifully be at an end (In everyday situation it's not a big deal, but it got annoying during the Insomnia sale, for instance).

Autobuy does seem like it could be problematic, and I don't think I'd ever use such a thing personally; as long as I hear about the promo(s) - for instance through email notifications for wishlisted games, as mentioned earlier by others - I don't mind deciding on my own when and whether to buy. :)

But why would I need a virtual wallet? I don't really like the steam wallet either... since virtual wallets are usually one-way. You put money in, and can only use it in the store. My 2 cents only though.
Another extension could be a gift card implementation. Instead of buying games as a gift the user may buy vouchers or store credit to gift. In that way the giftee will be able to pick their own games.

This functionality would be very welcome, assuming GOG doesn't get around to implementing multiple keys in one purchase. But either way it would be nice to able to pick up several separate gift keys in one transaction, and if that means prefilling a wallet, I'm fine with that.
