Miaghstir: I'm quite sure that was regarding the code for The Witcher 1. "The code" for The Witcher 2 is your CD key/serial number, meaning the GOG copy you redeem would logically be considered the same license as your physical (or digital from elsewhere) copy.
The post you are mentioning was a recent one (today or yesterday), the post I am thinking about was a day after the conference or thereabout. Still, I cannot find it atm, so it is possible that I'm mistaken. Will keep looking, and if I find it will update with a link.

Edit: Ha! Found it.

So retail copy won't be connected in any way with copy on GoG? It is only the same cd key, but two different copies and I can play retail copy even if I lose my GoG account, or I can play my copy from GoG even if I lose my retail copy?

The two copies are completely separate and independent from each other, my concern wasn't whether it would be possible to give your physical copy to a friend, but whether it would be aagainst the agreement.

The post I linked is for the following case.
You have The Witcher 2 on GOG.com, with cd-key AAAA-AAAA-AAAA-AAAA and a retail copy of The Witcher 2 with cd-key BBBB-BBBB-BBBB-BBBB
Trying to activate the retail copy on your account will obviously fail, since you already have The Witcher 2 on GOG.com. Thus you are able to allow a friend to enter the BBBB-BBBB-BBBB-BBBB key on GOG.com and get The Witcher 2 on GOG.com with the cd-key BBBB-BBBB-BBBB-BBBB.
I think that the cd-key is only used to make an account on , but I may be mistaken. In case this is correct, if you have activated your retail copy on [url=http://www.thewitcher.com]thewitcher.com, your friend won't be able to activate there.

Disclaimer: Still haven't installed The Witcher 2, and I only have a GOG.com copy, so any part of the above may be wrong.
When I first saw this, I thought it was for Witcher 1 EE DC and I was sooooooooo happy :(
I had bought mine at Stardock Impulse, and I haven't liked the change there........I would'a loved to have it from GOG, if I were rich I would just rebuy all my games here. (if you had them all)
Then I saw it was for Witcher 2 (which I haven't got (yet), lucky folks who did...........
