Now this is what I call a GOOD GA!

I try to do at least 1 good deed every week (call it atonement w/o the religion) to include giving blood (O+), helping stranded motorists (2 since Nov. 27), give a few bucks to the less lucky on the streets (I gave my entire lunch the other day), helping injured animals (took a Blue-jay to the animal center Dec.5), basically whatever presents itself. I don't do this for any glory. I got all the glory I need from my time in the U.S.M.C., which also happens to be WHY I feel the need to atone in these small ways. (If you have to ask, you don't have a proper appreciation for the military) :-)

I'm in for Pirates of the Black Cove since a mysterious Ninja Santa, I won't mention any names, gifted me with Edna & Harvey: Harvey's New Eyes.

Not in, but thanks for your generosity, BranjoHello!
Curiously it was my son that got me volunteering. He heard about a program that our synagogue did to cook and eat meals with homeless families and asked if we could do that so I signed us up. Of course the meals had to be kosher which was a bit of a challenge for me but I managed to buy the appropriate food, cook it in a very kosher kitchen and serve it. He helped with the preparation but ultimately it was the way he was able to interact with the homeless kids - especially since it was Christmas (the synagogue took on the task of housing and feeding the families during this week since the churches in the program were so busy). Watching him just hang out with these kids who had so little was amazing...

We did this year after year and every year we'd invite another family with kids to help us - almost none of them wanted to come back and do it again. I guess most kids (and a lot of adults) have a rough time feeling comfortable with people in such dire straits. But not my son... he taught me something about kindness and generosity that still touches me to this day. It isn't what you give, it is who you are that is important.

Not in but thanks for this GA, Branjo ;-)
C'mon, ye smelly gooddoers, show yeself!

This week I gave a car ride to two complete strangers since it was cold out.
I'm in for Pirates of the Black Cove.
I helped rake the leaves in an elderly widow's yard this fall.

I'm in for A New Beginning.

Great giveaway, by the way!
