I used to frequent many sites that had Heretic WADs on them. The sites have been slowly dieing and the last one I frequented got me a virus so needless to say I am not going back. Does anyone know of sites that still carry Heretic WADs and possibly Hexen ones that are safe? Any help would be great :D.
Err... buy the games?
The id super pack on Steam is definitely worth the $70 bucks considering most console games these days run up to $60 bucks anyway. You get all the Dooms, Quakes, Heretics, Hexens, Wolfensteins, and even Commander Keen. The DOS emulator for the older games suck, but I use the WADs for ZDoom anyway.
But as far as I know, obtaining the WADs by themselves seem a little shady. I'm almost sure it's not legal at all.

I suspect Whiteblade is referring to WAD files containing new levels, sounds, graphics, etc. - the equivalent of downloading a map for Unreal or whatever.
Unfortunately I don't know any good repositories for these old files. The only place I can think of is Fileplanet, but I don't think their selection would be very big.
Maybe there's some material on the old Walnut Creek / Simtel FTP archives, if they're still accessible?
I don't even know that game had WADs from third-parties, it's so old.
But fun! I'd love to get some WADs, like an HD pack, Duke Nukem 3D used to have one, I remember.
Tried this?

You can try the Doomworld idgames archive, or you can just Google "Heretic PWADS".
Have fun.

Sorry I wasn't specific. I meant custom content. It is called WAD's because that is the format the files are packed in. As far as owning the games I have bought all the id/raven games at least 2 times over... I just wanted a site that won't get me a virus like the last one I used did which is why I asked.

Ah, sorry. I should've known. It's been a while since I worked with those retro map editors and whatnot.

Yeah, the Doomworld archive is the definitive resource for almost all things DOOM-related.
