Tank Universal is appealing, but not with DRM. Opinions on Stalin Subway seem pretty strong in both directions, so now I'm on the fence about it. What is good/bad about the game?

I just tested Tank Universal and it runs without Steam, so it is DRM free there - if this is any help.

No, you still need the Steam client to download it. It is only Desura who provide both.

Unfortunatly - Desura do not sell it... I meant as places with a client, only Desura provides stand-alone installers also generally. All Steam games need the client to download.

Tank Universal is on GamersGate, though - http://www.gamersgate.co.uk/DD-TU/tank-universal. You should check it out someday, it is a surprisingly good game, and it is not quite what you would first expect from it.

Nice, finally a Meridian bundle with some DRM-free games in it (I still wonder why they only offer Steam keys for a number of games that have DRM-free versions available). Will probably pick up some of them.

I played Rhiannon years ago; sadly, it's just not all that good. It bears some surface similarities to games like Barrow Hill and The Lost Crown, but is nowhere near as well-executed. Those other games both managed, despite their limitations, to build up a sense of atmosphere and creeping dread; in Rhiannon, I never really felt any sense of menace. I also remember some of Rhiannon's puzzles being fairly annoying.

It's not an awful game, and it gets points for having a puzzle where you need to decode Ogham script (and if you know what Ogham is, then you're definitely in the game's target audience), but if you're expecting another Barrow Hill then you're likely to be disappointed. I would only recommend it to hardcore fans of the "Historical/Mythological British Horror" genre who feel the need to play them all, as there are much better examples of the genre out there.
