hedwards: Indeed, I've noticed over time that the generosity of some members has attracted some rather selfish people that we could do without. It's up to folks to decide whether or not they're going to be giving things away, but, it bothers me when people reward begzoring and greediness.
The last time I dropped a code, I never did get a thank you or even an acknowledgement that they'd taken the code. I think next time I give something away, I'm going to require people to work for it.
It's sad about the Ninja thread, but not really that surprising.
Agreed about the level of greedy-grabbiness increasing to epic proportions... But it is one of the things that makes this forum what it is - a generous community. Now if we could find a balance (like with any worthwhile thing in life) between connection, humanity and generosity, like the way this forum used to be.... that there is the key. See I'm all for gifting new members until they get it and begin giving back but it's more than free games.... It's a member telling me they decided to go see a doctor, it's the support I got when my dog was (well still is) sick, it's members sharing of themselves about games, and well all the crappy and happy things that life throws at all of us regardless of where we live on this planet. So yeah, I'm kind of sad the ninja thread degenerated into a bickering, nasty place. It used to be a fun hangout. But otoh, this death may inspire members to start participating in the real forum - the one comprised of actual people with real lives, real issues, real love of all things gaming and everything in between ;-)The last time I dropped a code, I never did get a thank you or even an acknowledgement that they'd taken the code. I think next time I give something away, I'm going to require people to work for it.
