JMich is correct, as is generally the case. I think, however, that you are just downloading one game at this point, so the installer might be making things more complicated than they need to be.
Here's a different path.
On your game shelf page, when you've got the game selected, you'll see on the right (in the gray area where the game stuff is) a button that says "Gog.com downloader mode." For our purposes right now, until you get the hang of things, turn it off by clicking on it. For now, just ignore the downloader - so you'll click on the button, not where it says "install now." When the downloader button says "Off," we're good to continue.
On the left side of the page you'll see where it says "My game: Windows" (if there's a Mac tab, ignore it for now, unless you are on a Mac). Under that it should say "Windows Installer, English." Click on that, which should begin the download.
Try to spot where the download is going. Depending on your system it may ask for a location - desktop is often a good idea - or it might go right to a Download folder.
When the download is finished, either run it - I think Chrome gives that option - or go to the folder where the file ended up, and double-click it. It should install and you can start exploring.
