Like if I want the name of a game or something else emphasized, how do I make just that word or words appear bold? Thx

Use the 'b' forum mark-up tags - you need to use square brackets but I'll use curly ones to demonstrate:
{b}this{/b}

comes out like

this

You can auto-generate the 'b' tags by pressing the 'B' button under 'My Message' or type them out yourself

To see exactly how Fever did it by typing it out, just quote his post and look at the text.

You just select bold and everything between the tags will be in bold.

If someone does something in a post and you want to know how they did it, then reply to them. The person's post will then be in the reply window for you to study to see how they did whatever you are interested in. Oh dear, I somehow never noticed that :P
