Sachys: Okay, so after seeing the trailers for OUTLAST today, my long time console gaming friend Ruprecht finally caved and bought it. Whilst it was cheaper on GOG, he went with a Steam purchase (having an account already from a prior purchase of Dark Souls). Fair enough, he's not the most techy type, and whislt I live near enough to aid him, he also doesnt want to be gogged down is stuff he doesnt undertands and HAVE to ring me if he can help it.
Already though - having redownloaded DS (a game hes familiar with from xbox), his eyes are opening to the possibilities of PC gaming with mods, fixes etc, and it got me thinking - Steam (in his case) is about the right kind of start for him (though there will be a day when there is a beating GOG in his heart!!!!), as it auto updates and does a bunch of stuff for him. It also gives him an easy social side where he can contact me or another friend quite easily if he is having problems (lets face it, for some the transition to PC gaming can be daunting).
So, he has Dark Souls ( a game he is familiar with) and Outlast (a game he is not - HEHEHEH! - he doesnt even own a commode!), but both seem to provide controller support and what I want to know is:
What games would you recommend that are either bundled (or have been repeatedly) or dirt cheap that have or will appeal to modern console gamers once they have gotten beyond the base threshold of actually TRYING a game on PC?
Obviously the humble WB and ORIGIN bundles come to mind... but there must be many others that can ease these poor folks into a new gaming world?
See, hopefully I can pick out a bunfle for him here and there or bag him a cheapo from steam as we go - the plan being to eventually get him interested in DRM free as well through a purchase of Witcher from steam and of course the GOG redeem option... heheheh!
Your ideas please: he's basically been mostly AAA all this time (so some high calibre indies are a good idea). Still quite stuck on high graphics (thought hat will change) and like FPS, RPG (a ala skyrim etc) and doesnt like strategy at all.
Edit: oh, i forgot, obviously keyboard and mouse are alien to him, so controller compatible games (doesnt matter the service) are best! :)
Edit2: scuse spelling, i have a giant cat sat on me
Mostly grew up woth console gaming, ended up beating Ultima IV on the skin of my teeth :P
