It's definitely worth seeing.

The blu-ray version is uncut. It doesn't say anything like director's cut or special edition on it, but it is the unrated (X-rated?) version, though it doesn't have much for extras. There is a Criterion Collection version but it is out of print. I never looked for it on e-bay, maybe one could find it.

The Criterion cut of the movie is more graphic in terms of violence and gore, but as far as I know that cut was only for laserdisc.

Wait a minute. How did the city of Detroit get enough money to hire someone do actually make this statue? I thought that city was so broke that they had to stop providing basic services, had fires in the street, and basically resembled Fallout?

About the movie. Yes, do watch it. It might seem campy because it was done in the 80's but it's still a damn fine movie.

Internet fundraising. People won't pay to help a destitute state but they will happily pay for a fucking cool statue.

I heard that the next Fallout was set in Detroit. It is the earliest setting yet, six years ago. Fallout: Shithole features vehicles for the first time, however if you leave it unattended for five minutes its tires are stolen. There will be no quests either as the quest market dried up years ago.

Best thing about Fallout:Shitholoe is that you don't have to do anything to make the scenery. Just take a few pictures and you're good.

The quest givers either starved to death or got eaten by roving gangs of cannibal looters.

Back in High School I wrote a paper for one of my classes (I forget which one) on Falling Down and the symbolism and interpretations of American society through analysis of the film. I could do 10x better on it now since I know how to write analytical papers better, but that film is is just like Robocop in the sense that it is a commentary on our society.

Anywho....

Robocop is an excellent film. I remember when I was 6 or so, they were going to air an edited version of Robocop on TV (probably 1988 or 89). I stayed up as long as I could because I wanted to watch it so bad. I was getting tired around 7 and the film came on at 9, so I did anything I could to stay awake. Play with the cat or dog, bust out the domino rally set (!!!), anything. I fell asleep at 8:30 :/ My parents let me rent it a few months later and I loved it, although my parents were wondering why I was laughing so much when they saw so much violence.

Robocop also has one of the best evil henchman death scenes ever.

I would highly recommend anyone interested in the fate of Detroit to have a flick through these pictures.

It's quite shocking really, what it looks like now, and what it used to be like.

Nah, Starship Troopers beats RoboCop in my book. I think there are more people who completely missed the point of ST than those who never understood what RC was about and that's what really counts.

Indeed, but I found their terribleness endearing.
