Vagabond: Y'all should, ya'know, check out my site! http://www.game-central.org (ignore news section, we're done with that.)

Seems as non-functional as kotaku at the moment

frostcircus: My choice is Eurogamer. There's a bizarre consensus in the gaming world that they write "controversial" things, or give "controversial" scores "just to get page hits" - but if you actually read the articles and reviews, that's quite clearly bollocks. It's just that we've become so acclimatised to the patronising hive-mind approach taken by most websites that it's a system shock for a lot of us when an article comes along that's actually written by a real human person.

I always liked Eurogamer too... though they have had one or two total disasters over the last few years. It often depends on who the author is. Recently I've been reading a lot of RPS... its like Eurogamer (a lot of the same writers) but better and without all the crap.
I love eurogamer's reviews. I think they're some of the best on the internet.
Kotaku is alright, about at the same level as Joystiq. A lot of meaningless articles, but plenty of good gaming news.
I read a lot of IGN articles, even though I swear everyone hates them. They've been around for a long time and usually have decent reviews (if you ignore the number scores).
I used to really like Gamespy, but the new blog format is just plain shit. They're trying to emulate Joystiq and Kotaku, but suffer both in content quality and quantity. It looks like 1Up might become like this soon too.
Hands down, the worst gaming site is Destructoid. I can't stand half the articles on there. Their reviews are written by snobby, "hardcore" gamers. Basically, the whole "we can be dicks if we want, its a free country" mentality that they embrace their just pisses me off.
edit: Oh, i forgot RPS. High quality articles there, but they don't update as often. Still, I enjoy reading a lot of whats posted.

Reading Kotaku is like reading a yellow paper when you are in the bathroom, you don't look information, you just want to spend five fast minutes.
What kind of console info do you need?
I'll give you console news for the next two years, while consulting my magic eight ball:
Chances of Sony continuing to fuck up and lose money: It is certain
Chances of Sony to lower prices on the PS3: Better not to tell you now
Chances of Nintendo to keep milking the Wii with shitty games and crapware: Without a doubt
Chances of Xbox 360 to RROD: Yes - Definately
Chances of Xbox 360 to continue getting the most good games: You may rely on it
