It wouldn't have been so bad if it didn't take Valve 9 months to release an SDK. The SDK came out after the L4D2 announcement if I remember correctly.

The worst part about it is that Valve put nearly all of their employees on putting out L4D2 pulling people off other projects. I don't understand the need to push out a sequel in a year at the expense of other quality games like the Portal and Half-Life series. It's just a really bizarre strategy that ultimate only bred ill will.
