Hell, even the man-made objects are out to kill you in Queensland. Leave a car parked in the sun for a few minutes and the bloody steering wheel'll burn your hands off.

Though they are the only state where the trains aren't complete garbage. Make of that what you will.

OK far more important than the Uni you pick is where in Australia - it is a very big country.

The east cost is more populated. Up north there is Queensland, very politically conservative and the typical beach tourist area. Outside of Brisbane population density is not high.

Sydney and Melbourne are similar, though Sydney is a little more racially segregated as far as I can tell, and Melbourne is possibly more wankery (we have TISM though!).

Canberra is small and full of politicians, but close to Sydney (in Australian terms).

Hobart is much smaller and further south, so colder.

Adelaide is smallish but a lot warmer than Hobart.

Perth is great but very isolated, which makes it a bit different to most places. Very strong music scene.

So consider the climate/culture/city size/political environment you are interested in.

North and West are very hot and humid I think. Here in Victoria it gets hot too but we get proper winters.

Melbourne is expensive but we have rural branches of unis that might be more interesting\comfortable. I go to LaTrobe and they have a few campuses spread out, Melbourne University has too.

As for the train thing, I don't even know what would be considered garbage. Never rode a train before, it's not really common in Brazil. Only 2 major cities have metro lines (São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro in case you're wondering) and they

I knew that the east was far more populated, so I was considering more the New South Wales or Victoria states.

Another concern I just remembered is the climate. I live in the south region of Brazil. And the temps really vary. They range from around 5~8 ºC on the colder days and 30~35ºC on the hottest days. But can reach up tp 40ºC sometimes.

Sounds like your climate is similar to here in Victoria and New South Wales. We regularly get 35-40 °C heat waves, they can last up to a week.

I believe in Queensland and Western Australia it's worse since it gets very humid, but I'm not recounting personal experience, it's just what I have been told by family.

As for animals, it's not that dangerous here if you live where most people live. I go running in the bush tracks and have only seen a brown snake once in 15 years, crocodiles only live in specific areas, and sharks only eat people who go into the ocean.

Don't worry too much about the trains, if you arrive through a University they will show you how to get around, it's just a matter of buying a ticket and getting on the right train.
