KavazovAngel: Big companies don't do that, because they'll then need to hire more people to provide technical support. That's why Windows or WoW, for example, are priced the way they are priced. You get 24/7 technical support.

Vestin: That's why rereleasing their stuff on GOG is a great idea - the guys here would bundle it with DosBox and take care of any (unlikely) compatibility issues, Blizzard would get a tiny bit more income (effortlessly)... and GOG's servers would crash as soon as the deal gets mentioned on Blizz's main website :3.

Also - the series was published by Interplay, with the second game (PC version) even being directly MADE by them... While everyone naturally assumes the rights got reverted to Blizzard at some point - were they, really ?
Or was Interplay's role in this smaller than I think ?
Interplay was a publisher only. They don't have any rights for the game. Afaik, Mike or some other high ranking guy at Blizzard was a friend with a similar guy at Interplay, so that's how they got to publish the game.

They could release it here, but they'll be throwing a million or two away, most likely (assuming the game sells here in the same way that it would sell on Battle.Net).

I say, if some stupid cosmetic in-game pet can sell so much that they made nearly 2 million in cash, a re-release of an old game can sell at least as much.

Oh, and the second game is not recognized by Blizzard. Same as Hellfire for Diablo, and some third party stuff for Starcraft.

They can't sell it "on battle.net" -_-; Battle.net is an online gaming platform, not a store. They CAN add it to BlizzStore and tie the purchase to one's b.net account but that's IT. There's no way and no point in playing Lost Vikings online.

Well, they made the SNES version and the PC equivalent is just a remake... with slightly less serious graphics and an amazing voice-over. While the "let's just not talk about it" is somewhat understandable with Hellfire, I don't think they should be ashamed of LV2...
Which brings up an important question - did they disown the LV2 PC port so much that they wouldn't mind Interplay selling it, or is that some sort of a bastard-child they want to hide from the public eye ;P ?

tl;dr - I don't care, someone should finally release it online and DRMless ;_;.

Battle.Net is in close relationships with their online store actually. Everything you have on your Battle.Net account (talking about personal / billing information) is also used when you purchase from their store. They sell in-game pets via their online store, why can't they sell old single player games? They'll be also making possible for modders to sell their high quality mods for Starcraft 2, via Battle.Net.

No idea what they did about the second, but I can't see any info about it on Blizzard's website, yet there is info for all other games (that they recognize, at least).

They can, they also should. Why the hell don't they :| ?
Although I'm not really convinced that they should centralize that much (the other Blizz-related stuff you can buy elsewhere - the T-shirts at Jinx, the novels from lots of places), I simply hope they don't just continue ignoring the possibility.

Speaking of which - they just turned 20 ^^". Brings a tear to my eye...

On that note - it's a GREAT occasion to, I don't know, release Lost Vikings for free or something ;P ?
Just to let you folks know you can download Lost Vikings 1 off Battle.net in Blizzards Classic games

altho i'm having problems with the controls with them getting stuck.
If they really want to impress they should release the scarcer windows version of The Lost Vikings 2.
