A Neverwinter Nights 2 mod re-creating the original Baldur's Gate saga

With the return of our popular Dungeons and Dragons bundle deal many of you got their hands on a copy of Neverwinter Nights 2: Complete. This is one of the most large-scaled Forgotten Realms adventures with a lengthy main campaign and all of its expansions. It also sports a nice 3D engine that, even seven years after the game's release, makes a wonderful job of presenting the diverse and vivid fantasy realm the game lets us explore. Either you have this game in your collection, or you're thinking about grabbing it from our sale, we'd like to bring to your attention a miracle of a mod, that will make your Neverwinter Nights 2: Complete experience even more awesome!

<iframe width="590" height="332" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/9m6m0ia8COo" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Baldur's Gate game along with its Tales of the Sword Coast expansion. Every location, every character, every quest, and every dialog line of the beloved 1999 classic have been carefully transferred into the 2006 Neverwinter Nights 2 engine. It took Drew Rechner--the project's lead designer--and his small team of dedicated modders seven years to complete this amazing mod, and now you can enjoy it absolutely free. The creators provide installation instructions, not complicated at all. All you need to revisit the Sword Coast is a copy of Neverwinter Nights 2.

NOTE: User registration with nexusmods.com is required to download the Baldur's Gate Reloaded mod (there is a free registration option if you leave all the payment plan boxes unchecked, but we encourage you to support this fine modding community).

For those of you who prefer the game in it's original 2D form we recommend our previous mod spotlight: Enhance your Baldur's Gate experience. For the next two hours you can still grab Neverwinter Nights 2: Complete, Baldur's Gate: The Original Saga, and many more D&D titles in one huge $20.10 Dungeons and Dragons bundle deal. The games are also available separately with 50% discount, and it will remain so until the end of our 2013 #NoDRM Summer sale. Have fun modding!

JudasIscariot: Check the NWN2 gamecard :P

And that they do.. :P
Not exactly what i think of, but definitely much better than loosing links ツ
Anyone tried this mod yet? What are the opinions?

paco_yepes: It's awesome, but I have a little question. Does this mod include the original voices? It seems that you have to read a lot.
Yes, the original voices are included.

It was made by a very small team (mostly just 2 people), and is a remake of an entire game. That said, you must accept that there are going to be bugs... and there are, but the team are busy now working on a first patch.

As for my opinion, it is a supreme accomplishment, and is a (mostly) faithful BG1 experience in the 3D NWN2 engine. That being said, you have to also accept that it is using D&D 3.5 rules, not the D&DA of BG. For a fan-made mod, produced and offered entirely free of charge, I cannot praise it highly enough. Get it.

Hickory, did you install the mod into the version you purchased here on gog? I bought this specifically to play BG-Reloaded and unfortunately the instructions to install are for an entirely different version. I stuck as closely to the installation instructions as possible, but I'm not having any luck getting the mod to show up.

I've looked for a solution on the nexus forums and on this site, but with no luck.

Just curious if you ran into the same issues when you installed?

Yes, I have the GOG version of NWN2. The instructions are NOT for an entirely different version: you are mis-reading the instructions. The biggest mistake that people seem to be having with installation, is they are assuming (instead of reading the instructions) that the mod goes into the override folder -- IT DOES NOT. The override folder must be empty, else elements of this mod may not function as intended, if at all. Your installation must go directly into your:
\Documents\Neverwinter Nights 2\ folder... everything. Leave the override folder alone.

Thanks, I will give it a try.
I already installed it but thanks anyway for making this topic.

I tried the mod only shortly as I wanted to finish my current TuTu playthrough first (and I did 1 hour ago), but from what tried (Candlekeep and first outdoors area), it looked good, I encountered no bugs and I will certainly continue.

gandalf.nho: Will need to play this one someday, always want to see the BG campaign using the 3.X rules (I remember another project trying to port the IE games inside Icewind Dale 2, which uses the 3.0 rules, but I guess they never advanced much)
I don't think the project to move Icewind Dale 1 into the Icewind Dale 2 engine project finished, but there's a NWN2 mod that recreates IWD1 (excluding expansions).
I haven't played NWN2, but I really hated the camera angles of NWN1. Are the camera angles better in the 2nd version? I may just have to load this up to see it in action.

Could you post the link?
This will be useful.

I saw the IWD project yesterday while I was waiting for the BGR download finish.

NWN 2 camera is pretty customizable, although it took me about 2 hours to configure it to the point when it was playable for me.
Having this is a must, and I really do look forward to a BG2 in NWN2.

Life really is great.
