I doubt my desk would have been able to support that weight.. Guess I shouldn't have bought one that's effectively made of frosted glass. (it was sexy)
A CRT TV capable of 1080p? I didn't even know that was possible.. Guess you learn something new each day.

To add to this conversation, my flagship desktop just had this old 19" MAG Innovision 986FS shadow mask CRT I've had since around 1999/2000 for a very long time...then I found a 21" Dell P1110 Trinitron/aperture grille CRT for a mere six bucks. It was heavy as hell and cumbersome to get into place, but now that it's there, I'd be hard-pressed to replace it with anything else. It definitely dominates the cheap LCDs I have lying around the house. (I just need a colorimeter to calibrate it and show what it can really do...)
Also, the aforementioned GDM-FW900 can run even higher than 1920x1080. Really wish I had one of those, but it wouldn't be cost-effective to acquire it by any means that requires shipping due to the sheer weight/bulk of the thing. I also have yet to see one in-person.

Yeah, I was loath to replace my old 19" CRT as well. I held off switching to LCD for a long time, because the quality simply didn't compare. I finally took the plunge when I built the machine I have now. I wanted to switch to widescreen anyway, and my brother had had an identical monitor to the one I bought for over a year (Samsung SyncMaster 226BW), so I knew what I was getting.
