Sielle: No... that would be action... it would be like if they "said" they were "intending" on giving a penny to a beggar. I'd like to think that we as a human race haven't sunk so low that simple good intentions are worthy of world renowned recognition. I'm reminded of a quote about the pavement on the road to hell or something of the like...
carlosjuero: "The road to hell is paved with good intentions"
Yes, I was using a literary allusion, but as some are apparently taking me literally I'll explain what I mean. Simply put intentions are absolutely worthless without actions to accompany them. Obama has good intentions yes, but he hasn't shown that he will fully act upon them. There is nothing saying that the NPP has to be given out right away. It should NOT have been awarded to him until after he has actually done something to warrant it. Who's to say he won't lead us into war with Iran next year, or decide to nuke Afghanistan? Yes both are very unlikely but he hasn't actually "done" anything to promote world peace, he's only said what he'd like to do.
Him being awarded the NPP has made it a farce, and actually diminished the credence of previous winners that did deserve the NPP.
