Many times when I'm ticked off about something, my older daughter will contort her face with a weird grin and say "You mad, bro?" Always makes me laugh. My wife has no idea what my daughter's referencing.

Man I wish I had a kid like this.

Freakin' cool little tyke! XD
Ok, I'll bite. I don't have a kid, but I'll tell a story that happened with my previous girlfriend. Anyway, as far as gaming goes, I could say that she's my 'protégé.'
We were living in France at the time during our year abroad in university. We were down in the south near Marseilles, the studies were piss easy, etc. After a while, we had nothing to do so I asked her to start playing WoW with me. This was in the early stages of our relationship and in order to accustom her to my foul language, I would always be swearing horribly around her. She got used to it, but never picked it up.

Anyway, we levelled to 60 and it was time to go through the Dark Portal to Outland. I gave her a rose as well as a /kiss (both ingame). We were questing randomly, while suddenly she shouts: "Fuck, I got cunted!" as her body flies off of a cliff in front of me. Some lvl 80 hunter had killed her.

I laughed out loud, it was great. Not only had I got her to play WoW but I also got her used to my lingo!

Anyway, WoW is great. We had to spend a lot of time in a long-distance relationship and a MMO is a great way of doing something together instead of just staring at each other in Skype.
My oldest daughter is use to playing web games like Moshi Monsters, Club Penguin and things of that nature.

About 1 year ago, the family felt she was old enough to start playing more advanced games. My family and I (2 Uncles, 1 Aunt, 4 Cousins our respective wives) are PC gamers. We run LANs with the local colleges and community centers about once a month or so. Her school also has a computer interest group that does LAN gaming too that I am a part of.

My daughter has been to many of the LANs I host mostly setting up cables and helping out with refreshments. Then she would get on her Netbook next to me or someone else in the family and play some of the games I mentioned before.

Then about 1 year ago she got the fever for DooM and UT. Mostly DooM though. When she does DM or CTF stuff it's so awesome to see her excited and stuff as she plays with her family and friends.

But when she gets upset and frustrated it's the cutest thing ever, man. She does this fist to the screen and shaking that is HILARIOUS. She sort of dose the same thing when she is playing sports but not as exaggerated.

It's awesome to share these gaming moment with our kids. It's just freaking awesome!

My girlfriend's goddaughter is a Ridge Racer fanatic. She's just turned six and has been playing Ridge Racer 7 since she was four. Fucking good at it as well.

Technically we were breaking the law though - Ridge Racer 7 is rated aged 6 and above here *facepalm*.
Entertaining, good thread, not much to add, other than how emotionally involved kids can get while playing (as if I don't.)

Many times I'd be working, kids playing Nintendo with friends over, and really giving it hell.

Wasn't often, but usually around 'boss' time, that I'd hear swearing off in the distance when things didn't go well; things like 'fat bastard' (Bowzer the culprit,) asshole pirates (Final Fantasy stuff,) and the like.

Swearing wasn't allowed, as I wanted them to learn how to express themselves without relying on profanities. I'd walk in, and an immediate 'I'm sorry', but knew damned well they weren't, only trying to get out of it.

Had fun saying, 'how would it look, if the next time I was talking to Mr. (name withheld), I said why in the hell do you want me to do this shit, it's a waste of time and money?' or other laced things in a hypothetical situation.

It got laughs from them, but the funny part is that I'd hear the boss music come up, sometimes months later, then hear one tell the other 'shhh, dad's gonna be listening,' or 'remember Mr. (name witheld.)'

Guy was famous, and he didn't even know it.

Sneaky little bastards.

If this were business, I can assure you I would have refrained from profanities myself. :-)

isaac.camin: She looked to me saying "I hate you" with her eyes, and walked out the room. I still laugh when I remember her face.
That is pure awesome!

I remember when I was a kid and bought the original game boy (with money I earned mowing lawns) you know crappy 3 green color screen came with tetris, My mom (not a gamer at all) bought the first 4 sets of batteries for it because she played tetris constantly. I have never been able to beat her in head to head tetris ever something she will not let me forget.
