I got some codes and don't want to drop them randomly, so I decided to start a weekly giveaway. I'm trying to make this a Wednesday-Wednesday thing, but I can't promise that it'll always start on a Wednesday (it'll always end on one). The first game of my weekly giveaway is *drum roll* Deadly Premonition: Director’s Cut (who would've guessed?) To enter, tell me what's your favorite creepy movie/book/game/picture/whatever.

Rules:
- winner will be chosen by random.org
- giveaway ends on Wednesday, May 28, 1 p.m. GMT
- this giveaway is "DRM free". No rep requirements or other restrictions. Just do me one favour: Don't enter just because there's a chance to get something for free! This game wants to be played. It'll jump out of your monitor and rip your head off if you keep it on your shelf unplayed! It's a horror game after all ;)

Good luck
Not in, but thanks. ;)
I'm in, I really loved the PS3 version, but the Steam version I got from Indiegala doesn't work, maybe this one will. Thanks a lot!

My favourite creepy movie is probably The Shining.

I've read the book too, but I think the changes adopted by Kubrick make the movie much better then the book. Just see the maze into the Overlook Hotel, or simply the way Jack dies in the movie. Also there is a very disturbing scene near the end of the movie, while Overlook reveal itself and even Wendy can see the horror in it. I'm referring to the scene where two masked ghosts are making...things in a opened room. I found that this is the most disturbing thin in the movie, also filled with disturbing things (ie when Wendy discovered the "book" written by Jack).

I'm in, thanks!
Venhiem sees the words "giveaway" and jumps right in without reading the details - or even knowing what game it's for. lol

Well not in, but thanks for the GA and +1.

It's really tempting - I just read some things about the game and put in on my wishlist. But:
a) If I would win, I would feel oblieged to give something back (just some little rule of mine), and I'm currently totally OOM.
b) I couldn't fullfill your above request for some time - I'm currently playing three big titles in parallel (and a few "just a few minutes"-ones like Race the Sun). And with a job and a family it will take at least 4-5 months before I will be able to start another game "for real". So I hope the game finds a new owner who plays the hell out of it :-)

For the question:

For me the most creepy book was George Orwell's 1984. Not exactly a horror novel but totalitarian backgrounds and brainwashing tend to give me the creeps.
As for "real horror" - there was Steven King's Pet Sematary. I read this as a kid when I was sick and running a high fever. And I kept dreaming about the cat (Church).

Sorry but you're wrong. As for the creepy thing I had to mention, I went looking for something but ended up watching a bit of The Hobbit. But just for you I'll remove my entry.

You don't have to remove your entry man. I read your post which didn't have a horror piece mentioned.

If you want the game, you deserve to enter just as anyone else. Just remember, it's the GOG version, not Steam.

I do believe you said that mockingly :D No problem I have enough to play anyways.
I'm in. If there's one thing I enjoy, it's creepy horror. "Torture porn" is overrated and will never stick with you the way that truly unsettling horror does. You asked us to post our "favorite creepy movie/book/game/picture/whatever". Allow me to share one of each:

Favorite creepy movie: The Ring. Some people will probably disagree but, at the time this movie came out, I was terrified. The entire concept just worked and freaked me right out.

Favorite creepy book: "The Masque of the Red Death" by Edgar Allen Poe. There are many influential horror writers, but almost none of them would exist if it weren't for Poe. While most of Poe's writings contain creepy and/or grotesque story elements, the plot and events of this story are, to me, the creepiest.

Favorite creepy game: Silent Hill; the first one. While the Resident Evil series brought the horror genre into the mainstream, Silent Hill took that foundation and created one of the most unnerving games I have ever played. Its use of the fog and the crackling radio and the shifting parallel worlds filled with grotesque creatures was masterful.

Favorite creepy picture: This. The video itself it rather long and, while creepy, is just not as creepy to me as the image of the alien itself. Sure, we could argue all day about whether this is real or fake, but that doesn't take away from the unsettling look of that creature.

Favorite creepy song: The jingle used in the commercials for the killer masks that appear in "Halloween 3: The Season of the Witch". While the movie itself is pretty bad and a terrible departure from the rest of the Halloween film franchise, that jingle makes every hair on my body stand on end. I'd provide a link to it, but I can't even bring myself to seek it out.

Favorite creepy event: The Philadelphia Experiment. Again, something that you can argue for years about what's true and what's not. Regardless, the idea of seeing people fused into the walls of that ship gives me major goosebumps.
