The adventure that can last forever.

Driftmoon, a charming and detailed indie role-playing adventure, complete with a robust mod editor that will let you create your own complex scenarios, is available 20% off on GOG.com. That's only $11.99 for a week, starting today.

Here's a game that will make you smile. It's plain to see that a lot of love and passion of its creators went into the process of making Driftmoon happen. This fantastic world was created with great attention to detail and no corners were cut when it came to producing the fable-like story. The creators' affection for their work is present in every dialog, every corner of the map and every little item in the game's world. Even though at times it's a little rough around the edges, this title presents everything that's good about indie role-playing development!

Driftmoon sports classic role-playing gameplay, complete with quests, battles, items, skills, and a party of adventurers. The charming 3D world is presented in fixed-angle top-down view, so it's always easy to keep track on of what's happening on the screen. The main scenario is full of adventure, secrets, dread, and enchantment. Even stories of pirate treasures take part in your quest! Once you finish the original campaign, there's a mod editor that will allow you to create your own fantastic land and experience other player's creations!

Step into the colorful, fantastic world of Driftmoon and let your inner-child experience a wonderful adventure, for only $11.99 on GOG.com. The promo lasts until Tuesday, March 5, at 10:59AM GMT.

I've just played some of the demo and am definitely going to buy it. From what I can tell it's an adventure roll playing game much like the old Ultima games. Looks like there's quite a bit of reading and you have a selection of responses to choose from during conversations with NPCs. Anyone who isn't sure if they will like this kind of game should just try the demo. I'm glad I did or I might have passed this one up.
I forget, did they say something about the Groupees beta version getting turned into the full game when it was release?
Bought it.

Not here on GoG, but from the Instant Kingdom-Homepage...was slightly more expensive...but, what the heck!

€12 are not the world.

AnneM: By the way, all the music in Driftmoon is by a very nice, talented young composer called Gareth Meek. All the sales from the soundtrack (available at bandcamp) go directly to him, and I'm sure he'd be thrilled to get your support. ;) We heartily recommend Gareth to other game developers!
Didn't he use to have moar music on bandcamp? I'm pretty sure I bought three albums the day I got Driftmoon. And there were more tracks in the soundtrack. Silver Feathers was in the low 20s.

(Bought the game again just now. Because feathers.)
I wouldn't mind giving this a go, although the screen pics seem a little too "top down" for my tastes. Anyone know if you can alter the view to a more "traditional" isometric? (I hated the almost negligent change in views that the Bard's Tale remake had, and it was too "top heavy")

There is a top down or the ability to "tilt" the view but you can only tilt is so far IIRC

Funny thing...I bought it, after I read in a comment from Anne (Developer), that it is possible to switch to 'real' top-down view...I LOVE top-down!

;)

Edit:
Here's the Comment, I mentioned above (from RPS):

Zepp says:

I hate the perspective. This semi top-down is painful to watch. I wish it was isometric like Planescape: Torment. With current perspective options I must force myself to endure it instead of focusing on enjoying gameplay.

Anne says:

[...}
And if it’s the “semi” in that semi top-down that you don’t prefer, switching the viewpoint up to fully top-down is easy. Page Up will do the trick for you!

The range of camera angles in Driftmoon probably won't be to your liking either. It's either completely top-down or slightly tilted, like reaver894 said. It doesn't get any more "isometric" than what you can see in the screenshots here on GOG. Try the demo and see for yourself (you can change the camera angle with PgUp and PgDwn, but it's really just a choice between the two options mentioned above).

That is FEEXED. Thanks for spotting that :D
Can anyone who bought the GOG version confirm that it's not the most recent V1.001, as posted by this user? If this is true, I think it should be brought to Ville and Anne's or the GOG staff's attention (the Driftmoon subforum is currently a lot less active than this thread, so I thought it should be mentioned here).

Yes, I can confirm. The GOG installer provides the 1.000 version of the game, and doesn't seem to find an update even with the automatic update option enabled. We'll clarify in the morning (it's 00:30AM in Poland and 1:30AM in Finland right now).

Just to back up G-Doc, I would also like to point to this post:

Bummer. But I'll check out the demo anyway.

Endzville: I was actually just checking it out out of curiosity. Pretty good stuff indeed. Will certainly invest in the soundtrack whenever I buy the game too.
Yeah I like the OST a lot. The tunes have a bright, chirpy feel to them.

Edit: there's an interview from 2010 with Gareth Meek, if anyone's interested:
