So, You Want to Be A Hero?

One of the best series of the 90s--the adventure/RPG hybrid that combines high draw with low humor--the [url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/quest_for_glory]Quest for Glory series is now on GOG.com. Pick up all 5 games in the series for just $9.99! In addition to the manuals, maps, books and other goodies, we're also including the original EGA version for Quest for Glory I as well as the remake!

If you’re a gamer who remembers the days when a 386 was a blazingly fast machine, you likely have a special place in your hearts for Sierra Entertainment Games, and the Quest For Glory series may have been the best of the games that studio developed in the 90’s. For those who remember these classics, you probably aren’t even reading this, since you just clicked on “add to cart” and are already downloading the games. For the rest of you, let’s talk about what makes Quest for Glory special.

Quest for Glory is the story of becoming a hero. From the first game, where you are a recent graduate of the Famous Adventurer’s Correspondence School, to the last game where you are a hero with unparallelled skill, fighting evil on a grand scale, you chart the journey of your hero, whether you’re a fighter, a mage, or a thief. Each challenge you encounter can be solved a number of different ways--depending on where your skills lie--and discovering how to master those challenges and save the day is half of the fun.

The other half of the fun, of course, is the trademark silliness that Sierra games contain. Whether it’s clever throwbacks to other Sierra classics, cameos by the Marx Brothers, or deadly puns, the game makes sure that you’ll keep on laughing while you play. While there are definite moments of high drama and excitement throughout the series, the light-hearted nature of the games--especially the earlier ones--makes sure you’re never bored.

The Quest for Glory games have riddles and puzzles--as adventure games tend to--and fast-paced combat and stat-based character improvement--as RPGs generally do--but it combines the two together into a whole that is more than the sum of its parts.

Whether you’re a fan of the games from back in the day or you’ve never played them before, these great games are sure to enthrall, so pick up the complete Quest for Glory bundle on GOG.com today for just $9.99 for all 5.
Oh my Vishnu! FINALLY!

Thanks GoG, you pulled through once again!

KMetalMind: GOG is releasing Sierra games??? Please, oh, pleeeeeeaaaaaaaseeeeee... Get the rights to release Lode Runner the Legend Returns... It´s one of the best games I´ve ever played, and the best Lode Runner title IMO.

I would get it on release date :P
GOG has released Sierra games previously - Police Quest 1-4, all the Space Quests in various packs (though it lacks the VGA remake of SQ1), all of the King's Quest games (though again, I believe it's missing the enhanced EGA version of KQ1).

That said, I couldn't agree more on Lode Runner: TLR. I've got the original DOS version and the PlayStation version, which I believe contains additional levels from Mad Monk's Revenge, but I'd still love to see it on GOG. While we're at it, I'll throw in a vote for the Conquests and Laura Bow games.
A fantastic adventure/RPG hybrid series from my favorite video game company of the days of yore. I'm so wishlisting this.

Does the free LRO make the wait easier?

First: FSCK YEAH!
Second: ABOUT TIME!
Are people still concerned about GOG not releasing as many classic games?

They've been amazing, offering new games at nice discounts and maintaining consistent releases of older games.

Long live GOG.
Finally, the wait is over. Thank you GoG! Instabuy again (Oh, my poor wallet :-S )
This deal is truly fantastic.
Thanks in particular for releasing both the AGI and SCI versions (where applicable).

Yeah any day where we don't see a single classic release your guaranteed to have at least one person complaining that GOG is abandoning the classics irregardless of how many classics were released in the prior weeks.

Just goes to show "Stupidity.. Stupidity never changes"
People need to realize that every time GOG releases an ultra new, or kinda new game, they follow up with a really awesome classic game. Case in point, after the transition to newer games, they gave us Wing Commander 4. Legends of Grimrock was followed up with Theme Hospital. Witcher 2? Populous the Beginning AND Ultima 8.
Never played these. Wasn't born/was too young at the time.
I've heard good things about them, though, and, considering the supposed RPG/Adventure hybrid, they should be right up my alley.
I'll have to nab them at some point later on.
Yesterday, somebody said GOG is no more than just a name, lost their identity. I wonder if these two (it's 7 actually) releases changed his mind.. it's merry-go-round, next week when GOG release another "newer" game, you'll see the same situation again.
