It looks, sleek but nostalgic and plays just as you remember, or better! Or maybe you never played Speedball 2? Well then, it's about time you tried. It comes with over 300 unique players featured in 28 teams--one of which you'll manage--representing 4 different planets. It provides hardcore, fast-paced gameplay, and takes absolutely no prisoners. Try it out with a friend for maximum excitement!

Reach for the victory, and be sure there will be blood, sweat, and tears on the way in Speedball 2 HD, for only $7.99 on GOG.com. The 20% off release discount offer will last until Thursday, December 12, at 3:29PM GMT.
Wishlisted for the Amiga goodness. Not really my genre of game, but will get if a bargain comes later.

And what's the deal with the scant extras? The other release today came bundled with the manual as the only extra. Which is pretty sad in itself that developers now consider that a bonus item, rather than something they should always provide for any sufficiently complex game. I guess the market in OSTs has convinced most publishers that they shouldn't be giving them away anymore.
What's this ? I never heard of it before .
Waits patently for Cadaver...
Release Date 1990? Surely that's a mistake GOG.... trying to pawn off a remake as a classic :P

Edit: Just to clarify, the reason this is an issue is it'll appear under the pre-1995 release date filter and some of us don't worry too much about the specs of classic games because we presume they'll run on most things we throw them at.... this game for instance wouldn't work on my laptop whereas every classic I own on gog does.

Yeah, the release date should read 2013, not 1990. This is not a classic release, sorry GOG.

Edit: ... and they just changed it to 2013.

So, unlike Chaos Engine, you cannot switch between enhanced and original graphics?
I've got Speedball 2 on iOS, iPod. It's a fun game I've enjoyed playing... like soccer with arcade style power-ups.

Wishbone: To be perfectly honest, I'd have been much more interested in the original, especially the Amiga version.
The DOS port wasn't a bad effort at all though given the usual disparity between Amiga and PC versions of the time. The Amiga music was of course superior and much "meatier", but the game itself on the PC was a fair attempt.
So, how is the title music? Does it resemble either of the two, or something else?

Does this game offer a non-HD version, with original(?) graphics and music?

Not my genre either, usually sports games (football, ice hockey etc.) bores me to tears. But for some reason SB2 was different, I used to play it quite a lot, both by myself against the computer, and against my brother (and he liked it too, even though otherwise he never was that interested to gaming overall).

Thanks! I do recall this game being appealing to folks outside the genre back in the day, so hopefully it will have broader appeal on that count. I'm sure I'll still enjoy it, just not as much a priority against my current backlog as other Bitmap Bros games would be (Gods, for example).
What the heck, here goes nothing. Buying.

And probably the answer to my music question is "something different", but similar in style. I could only find two trailers in Youtube with some music in the background. And yeah, it says "Ice cream!" too.
