Shadow of Chernobyl + Clear Sky + Call of Pripyat up to 70% off!

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky, and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat, the phenomenally immersive FPS survival horror series set in the terrifyingly believable radioactive "Zone" surrounding the explosion site of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, is available up to 70% off on GOG.com. That's only $14.97 for the set of three for the next 72 hours.

Not many people truly understand what it means to be a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. We're Scavengers, Trespassers, Adventurers, Loners, Killers, Explorers, and Robbers. Basically, what each of us is, is a bit of a soldier, a bit of a thief, a bit of a hunter, a bit of a nutjob, and a full-time basterd. Imagine what's happening in our heads. The Zone is calling for us ahead, new locations and unknown threats, spatial holes and monsters hiding in the fog, pitch-black nights and saving rays of a rising sun. You try to avoid anomalies and hide from blowouts, discover the Zone and collect artifacts, cure radioactive irradiation and fight for any stalker faction you like! This is the life, right? If only it didn't end so promptly, ever so often.

The S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Series delivers one of the most immersive and enthralling experiences in the history of first-person shooters. Calling it a "shooter", however, might be a bit of a stretch. The games' focus leans mostly towards exploration and stealth. In most cases, it's best to avoid encounters rather than face the dangers head-on. The Chernobyl exclusion zone is full of things that could kill you in an eyeblink. Strange creatures, physics-defying phenomena, not to mention the other men bold or insane enough to venture into the heart of eastern-european Twilight Zone. The competition is ruthless, as the prizes are great--the fascinating artifacts found in the forbidden land yield unbelievable prizes on the black market. If you think you have what it takes to become one of the fabled S.T.A.L.K.E.R.s, the whole story of the Chernobyl Zone opens before you: the original Shadow of Chernobyl, the prequel Clear Sky, and the sequel Call of Pripyat. All three games come with high-quality soundtracks encoded in lossless FLAC format.

For the next 72 hours, that is until Sunday, February 9, at 10:59 GMT, you can get the entire S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Series 70% off, that is for only $14.97. Separately, the games come with 50% off discount for that time.

EDIT:
Now, that the release special offer has expired, the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games are priced at $19.99, $9.99, and $19.99 for Shadow of Chernobyl, Clear Sky, and Call of Pripyat respectively. A permanent 20% off series discount still applies, if you get all three at the same time.

SpecShadow: I'm not actually fan of "complete" overhaul mods.
I spend nice hours playing it but readme.txt of the mods were cold shower for me.
tl;dr - turned marvelous game into average FPS with no AI and too much cheats.
yep, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. isn't supposed to look pretty :)
Wow, all three games released at once and with 70% off? Instabuy!
Old and experienced gamer, but quite ignorant about FPS...
So the question is : Is this series better than Half-Life 2? Same type?

Although I'd recommend the Complete mod for Clear Sky in particular - there simply isn't other great mods for that as far as I can see, and Complete at least fixes a lot of that games' bugs - I think people should check out some of the other mods for the two other games instead of immediately installing Complete.

The first game has quite a number of mods available for it. Personally I've stuck with Complete for just now but there's a rather hefty one called SOUP that I intend to try out in the future. As for Call of Pripyat, forget Complete and get Misery instead. Well, perhaps not if it's your first time through the game as it's pretty difficult stuff but, if you've played the game before, then I'd definitely get that.

You see, my big problem with the Complete series of mods is that some of the tweaks make the games a little too easy for my taste, even on Master difficulty. Although they suggest that they don't change the games that much with their mod, they really do, I think. It's fine for the most part and some of the additions are even quite handy (though also poorly balanced, like the repair kit in terms of weight), but if you've played the base game you'll quickly notice that the A.I., for example, is now pretty dumb.

All to say that you should perhaps check out a few other mods instead of immediately thinking that Complete is your best option just because it's the one talked about the most.

Zeewolf: Source? Last I heard they shut down most of the business. They may still exist as a legal entity and sell their games, but afaik not a developer.
... I went to look for a source and I was completely wrong. The company was dissolved in 2011. Worse still, I actually added the company profile to pcgamingwiki.com late last year, so I deserve more than one slap on the wrist :S

in my opinion - better

half-life is shooter, polished, sometimes cinematic, but still shooter, scripted and planned

stalker on the other hand is open, heavy atmosphere survival, where you can go nearly everywhere, with no guarantee that you wont have your a* kicked.

it's similar to half-life but with one step further in the right direction ;]

No, it's something real different.

I played only Call of prypiat and it is something in the middle of a First person RPG and a FPS.

You have FPS sessions/missions, but you need experience, new stuff to wear, power up weapons and so on to survive.
Great entry promo. I bought them.
Thanks GoG!!!
Get out of here stalker!

Kunovski: can I please please ask if these games contain original voiceovers, or English ones?

JudasIscariot: Our versions are the mixed English/Russian versions i.e. if you go to a stalker camp you'll hear such phrases as "Hey bro!" in English but if you go out into the Zone you'll "Ah nu cheeki breeki i v damke" (amongst other words) in Russian/Ukrainian.
Does the GOG version have an option of installing and playing the full Russian version?
This is an excellent release : 3 games, with a good discount, multiple langues and lots of extras. That's the best release we've got in a long time, I'd say.

Now, my backlog is quite impressive and I won't buy all 3 games. Is there a best one amongst those ? What are the difference between them ?

Also why is on those half the price of the others ?
this is awesome! thanks, GOG!
Wooooooooooooow! What a release!!!
This is week of the best releases! Thank you very very much GOG!
Oh wow Well DONE!! Brilliant series! ty gog =D
I disliked how one of the latter Stalker titles (Clear Skies I think it was) seemed to be influenced by Fallout 3 graphical style, ie the dangerous radiation everywhere silliness, desertification, green-tinted color palette. SoC and CoP both seemed to have the "overgrown by nature" look done properly, which is evident from all the images we actually have of Chernobyl post-disaster.
