Sorry to hear about your loss. I can understand. When I was 13 I lost my best fried (dog) he was a pure bread Golden Retriever. We went everywhere together. He got loose and I found him after he had been hit by a car in the ditch - he was still alive. We brought him to the vet but his back had been severed and the vet had to put him down. I never had another dog like him.

I used to have a cat and we were both really attached to each other (often literally). He was great company and we had many enjoyable times together. He was a little over a year old when he too was run over right in front of our house. The woman living over road told us a few days later that she saw him that day trying to catch birds and he was apparently enjoying himself. Just knowing that seemed to help.

So remember the enjoyable things your puppy was doing, and hopefully, it won't hurt as much.

He pretty much enjoyed swimming and exploring the neighbor hood but sadly he still didn't understand that the cars are dangerous T-T;;;

I know...we have a brother and sister puppy that they are getting along so well until this happen now the sister is gonna be lonely...

It's always tough losing a pet that you've grown attached to. I've lost a cat we had for around 15 years (a stray dog got him), as well as a dog we had for around 17 years (had to put her down due to old age setting it). We'd gotten both of them when I was quite young, so I'd pretty much grown up with them being part of the family. bansama offers good advice in trying to remember the good times you had with your pet rather than dwelling on the end that it met. I'll always remember how much fun our dog would have playing in a creek by our house- one of us would toss in a small pebble for her to chase after, then she'd plunge her entire head underwater and pull out a rock almost as big as her head and bring it to us looking incredibly happy and proud. Still brings a smile to my face thinking about it.

Sorry about your loss.

While I've never had a pet die (I did have two gerbils, but since my mother - rather than me - was the one taking care of them, she managed to convince me of giving them away to a hopefully better home), a white teddy bear I treasured was lost when going on a journey. I was certain someone had stolen it out of my backpack when we were walking to the train station (more rationally thinking, it was likely blown away by a gust of wind as half of it was sticking out of the bag). I can't even remember the teddy anymore other than this last episode. (Why am I sharing this? Oh well it's already typed, hope no one takes this as me trying to steal the thunder of real pets dying.)

I feel your pain.

My cat that I had for 15 years died of cancer when I was 21.

Haven't had another cat since.

I decided humans make for better companions, because they are longer lived though they can still get hit by a car...

Feel bad about your puppy, shit happens, and I'm sure just an unfortunate accident.

What aggravates me worse, is when people just kill things for no real reason, but that is outside the parameters of your loss.
