Just giving this a little bump. For any new members who happen upon this, I would recommend the Wing Commander games. While I haven't been able to get to them yet myself I have heard nothing but good things about them from people I know here.
Not in, since I only meet the first two requirements.
+1 for the giveaway; nice lineup.

However, I noticed that there have only been two valid entrants so far. At this rate, you'll probably need to extend the giveaway about a week into May.
Not in but this is really nice :)
Not in but a +1 for your generosity. ;-)
Not in, but this giveaway deserves a great BUMP.

Thank you, HypersomniacLive. +1
Easy thread to miss since I do not spend time in the forums unless I am searching for something specific! Thanks HypersomniacLive for pointing me to your thread :P

I. Tell me how you found out about GOG and what motivated you to join.

I was looking for a download link for Freespace 2 ever since I found the open source project of the game. On their website they had replaced the links to the files with a link to GOG because GOG was selling it and the Freespace 2 Open Source team was enthusiastic about it! Once I found out about this place and the wealth of games on offer I was impressed with what feels like a community enhanced (rather than driven) business model especially for games that I grew up with and others that still hold their ground as entertaining and even Art despite the passage of time. On a final note I have been impressed that the GOG team keeps updating some games in order to make them run better (like Interstate 76, they brought out a second version of it recently, needles to say I bought it despite owning the original CDs)

II. If you've already bought a game on GOG, tell me why you chose that specific game as your first purchase.

Although I never bought Freespace (I found a copy on a second hand shop for £2.50 !) I went to buy 2 games I never had before, System Shock 2 and Arma 2. The reason? I had owned and played the first games of the series and I wanted to see how they evolved during my hiatus from computer gaming (I am past 30 now...). I really enjoyed the story of both System Shock 1 and Operation Flashpoint (now Arma 1) and now the rest of the series!

III. Tell me why you'd like the game you choose and why you haven't bought it yourself already.
I find myself enjoying games with a story and dialogue and cinematics as much as mindless shooting at people. For the latter I prefer online multiplayer and as such I go for newer games that still ahve an online community. That leaves GOG to nurish my desire for games with a good story. And just like some of the greast literature is old (some is ancient, we are talking thousands of years...) I still find old games that fit the bill perfectly.
The only challenge is finding them, and the only way I found the Witcher is through this give-away! I respond to a message in a different game's forum, then I get a reply linking here, then I find myself on youtube enjoying the game more and more. Now time to stop checking youtube in case I win, I hate spoliers.. So the Witcher seems to have a good mixture of adventure, role play and story to keep me entrertained for a while until I find another gem..

My login info is attached and I have not entered any other competition (apart from the free games GOG gives)

Welcome Pamphagus, glad that you accepted my invitation, and hope to see you more around!

Your entry made me realise that I failed to foresee the case of more people being interested in the same game. So, I've made a couple of amendments to the rules, and hereby kindly ask you to read them and then post your 2nd and 3rd choice. Thanks!

I was thinking I would like to have the game "The Witcher -Enhanced edition: Director's Cut. I love role RPG games and this is one I have looked at and said "Maybe someday I'll buy it.". I love the graphics that are shown and the fact that it has a unusual story line to it.

[...]
Please, take a couple of minutes to read the two amendments I've made to the OP and then post your 2nd and 3rd choice. Thank you!

3-Realms of Arkania 1 + 2. I never herd about it, then after checking it's page I saw that it was awesome. I was sold on the fact that I can get the flu if I dont prepare carefully, I love that it emulates things that would happen in a tabletop. I have not bought it because I recently found out about it.
I've made two amendments to the OP since you posted, so please read them and then post your 2nd and 3rd choice from the games on offer. Thanks!!

Well let's see what is on the list for my 2nd & 3rd choice. I bought Dungeon Keeper Gold as one of my first buys. I already own Torchlight. Somebody else has requested Arkania 1 & 2 (but I would still like it). I'm not into flight sim games (but I did just buy Commandeer 3 for my husband as an anniversary gift). That leave Dracula 4 & 5. So my choice for #2 is Arkania 1 +2 and choice # 3 is Dracula 4 + 5.

Once again I thank you and everybody who has helped in this giveaway.
Excellent news! I only have 2 choices though and these are:

1.The Witcher

2. Dracula
Another BUMP

I'm really curious what your thinking/ reasoning for not being interested in any of the other games is. Could you, please, elaborate a bit?

Newbies have no appreciation for the finer things. Wing Commander is wide open and no ones even shown interest in it as a third choice.

You're going to scare the entrants away. ;-P
Let's be nice, shall we? - after all, this is a welcoming giveaway for new GOG members. ;-)

FWIW, I don't think it's got to do with being a new or old member on GOG, more a "generation you belong to and the media you were and are exposed to" thing. It's understandable that a 15 year old person may not even know that the WC games exist.
We should take it upon us to introduce them to some of the best games of the '80s and '90s, games that were developed on a different mentality.

What do you say?
Maybe this will peak their interest.
