Does anyone have any good gaming blogs to recommend? I don't mean professional sites like RPS. Instead, I'm on the lookout for totally subjective, uncommercial and (in a sense) biased blogs. Just people writing about games they are interested in.

Pc games, console games, retro, old-school, mainstream, new stuff... Everything goes, as long as it's something you enjoy reading and would like to recommend.

Personally, I've followed 8bitcity.blogspot.com for quite a while. As you can probably guess, it's mostly about old console titles and all things 8-bit. Especially the older posts are well worth reading.

A lot of very good articles on all things gaming. Mostly random thoughts and observations about things, but also some reviews. He's done some pretty impressive coverage of different Roguelikes as well.

My own blog. I do a lot of reviewing, usually of older FPSs. In fact, I think every review on there but 2 are FPS reviews :P. Not always regularly updated, but whenever I write a review (which is usually after I've finished with a game), I put it up here.

For CRPGs I found CRPG addict to be quite interesting.

I'm really trying hard not to laugh at that sentence.

Regardless of whether you agree with them or not, RPS has some of the best writing in the entire industry and certainly deserves being called a "professional review site." They make sites like IGN and Gamespot look like amateur productions.

Thanks for these, I was out looking for some more non mainstream indie blogs. (that's a weird one).

I think it covers a wide variety from tabletop to indies to some non-mainstream stuff. I recommend it.

Oh, yea, their articles related to Valve, Blizzard, EA, and Ubisoft are all professionally written.

I would like to take the opportunity to praise this fellow GOGer. He doesn't know how to spell GOG, but he has an excellent view and knowledge on shooters. I wouldn't trust him on reviewing Barbies Dream Castle unless it lets you handle a rocket launcher, but when it comes to FPS he certainly knows what he is talking about.

on Mobygames who is excellent on all kinds of games. His RPG reviews are just about the only reviews I actually care about. I cannot recommend him enough. While not necessary a blog, his reviews are an exellent read that sometimes go into gaming in general. He also made a few other articles on Moby which are also top notch.

Name me one review source that doesn't have some biases.
Why thank you! And yes, the more I review the more I realize that I'm not terribly good with other genres. I wouldn't trust myself to review things like RPGs, simply because I don't know enough about the genre. FPS/RPG crossovers I'm ok with :P

Somehow I knew that was going to be Unicorn Lynx even before I clicked on the link. The man really understands his RPGs and adventures.

I'll humbly submit my own blog. I haven't really fully launched it yet, but the idea is that I'll play a ton of games from my backlog and while I play through them I'll do some interesting discussion on the games industry, design theory, history, my opinions on how it actually works and other stuff.

Actually i have to agree with you. I spent time looking for other review sites who were a little more unbiased unlike Gamespot and IGN ****. RPS is a very good one. As are Eurogamer & Giant bomb :).
