Thing is, they didn't have to give anything at all(even the discounts).
As to your class paragraph: What if they gave away candy in a class and half the class was diabetic and couldn't eat it? Should they not give candy out at all/throw it away because of that?
I spend a hell of a lot of time and energy during my classes trying to make the students as comfortable as possible, encouraging animosity with that sort of impolite and uncouth behavior is something that teachers are supposed to be better than.
Handing out treats for performance isn't wrong, however giving something to a large section of the class that isn't given to everybody is just not right.

Life isn't always fair to everyone....learn to accept that fact and make the best out of what you get/have and not be jealous when things don't go your way, or try to make suggestions to change the system you find so unfair and see what happens. If nothing happens as a result don't shake your fists and cry over it like a child, as that's neither civil or productive.
And thanks for telling me how much I suck. Very classy.
Whether or not the free game is an entitlement it's not a sentiment that any retailer wants to encourage. Things go on sale here regularly and people buy knowing that to be the case, but gifts don't happen very frequently and to be given nothing at all just sends the message that you shouldn't be spending so much money here.
It's something that could have been better organized, IIRC when they gave away Broken Sword they at least gave the people who had already bought a copy an upgrade to a higher resolution version.
