When I buy a game on GOG, i also burn it on CD/DVD. But some games are larger than 4,7 GB, thus they won't fit on one DVD.
May I ask, is it possible to download a game that is larger than 4,7 GB and split it up, so I don't have to buy DL DVD(they are faulty)? For example, Steam offers this when using Back up Games function.
I am asking beacuse I am planning to buy Neverwinter Nights 2 and that game has more than 6GB, so I won't be able to burn it on one DVD. Does GOG downloader offer a function to split NW2 installer to 2 DVD's?
I don't want to use software like WinRar or HJSplit for this, I rather try to burn it on DL DVD.
Thank you for your answers and Merry Christmas.

They are split. The NWN2 installer has 6 parts for example
And I don't think there is an installer larger than 2GB on gog. Most are split at 1.5GB

You don't need to split it up yourself. The installers that come into multiple parts are split into files themselves, at about 1.5GB per file, so 3 of those files can fit in a DVD. During installation you will (probably) be asked to insert the disk containing the next part, or you could first copy everything to hard disk and then install the game.
There's a certain order to the chunks that you need to observe if you want to burn the games onto multiple DVDs. If you want to install straight from the disc, it's not as simple as sticking part 1, 2, 3 onto DVD 1 and part 4, 5, 6 onto DVD 2.

I can't remember precisely how it works, but it's either:

* Put the last chunk together with the installer on DVD 1 and then part 1, 2, 3 etc. as they fit (this means that if you have six chunks, DVD 1 will contain chunks 6, 1 and 2, while DVD 2 will contain chunks 3, 4 and 5).

* Put the first chunk together with the installer on DVD 1 and then work backwards from the last chunk (this means that if you have six chunks, DVD 1 will contain chunks 1, 5 and 6, while DVD 2 will contain chunks 2, 3 and 4).

If done correctly, you'll be able to install the games directly from the DVDs and will be prompted to insert each DVD when needed. You will need to reinsert DVD 1 at the end of the installation.

Also, this only works with the 2.0 installers, and the checksum verification will obviously not work.
I'm sure you can have the .bins on different dvds, the only issue you may face is the dvd is not filled, and those you wasting space..
in that case, you can use a zip/rar program to create a split archive. (or even just use a file splitting program such as HJ-Split, and even put it on the dvd too :P)

Yeah, but if you shove the bins on the disc as-is, you can install right off the discs (yes, the 2.0 installer should handle having the files on separate discs). If you use third-party applications to make a split archive, you'll have to extract the files first.
And since you do seem to like your games on DVD, this thread may be of interest to you.
