hedwards: We don't need to generate good will, we have money. Like I said, the purpose of those businesses is profit, this whole undermining of the DRM-free movement on such a ridiculous rationalization is dickish.

amok: but it is certainly not going to hurt to have goodwill as well, does it? all it takes it to be civil and mature. You then have the option to work with goodwill, or against it - why would you make it harder? And what is wrong about being civil when it is something you want also - it is just common decency.

edit - and seems so far that the amount of money the "DRM free revolution" has spent so far is not enough, or the revolution would have been won by now.... or even exist... .
Decency is great, but it's not productive to pretend like they're not being dickish. Failing to call them out on it is just enabling the behavior. If they can't be bothered to be mature about it, they deserve the black eye. Pretty much the only thing that companies care about are profits and PR.

yeah, but it tells you something about the DRM free crowd, if this is acceptable, I think. It is one thing calling someone out for saying something silly and pointing it out, but another for juvenile name calling. If this is on the same level for you (and the rest of the so called DRM free crowd) then it is no wonder that it goes as it does.

This is a really a shame and probably reflects what directives and shareholders think in that company. Anyway I'll wait till they bankrupt and someone else with less greed get they entire catalog and decided to sell them all here:D

Juvenile name calling and all other sorts of delinquent behavior goes on in every "crowd." The penis comment was probably tacky, and unproductive, but I hardly think it is a character trait to be pinned exclusively on the DRM-free crowd, or that any crowd could claim to be free of juvenile antics.

It doesn´t matter as long as they are continueing to rerelease their older games DRM-free anyway.
I´m currently very happy to see Hitman: Contracts here on GOG.com and I´m waiting for Blood Money to appear in the next few months. And they will DEFINITIVLY reconsider their opinions after they saw the massive sales of Blood Money...

Sigh. Nice to see traditional British culture is still alive and well, even if it fixates on a non-issue to the exclusion of the actual issue.

No, I don't think it means that. All it says to me is that GOG may have a harder time adding new releases from them, convincing them to bring their newer titles here DRM-free. But that's nothing new for GOG.
